free up memory problem!!

hey guys,
i installed cm on a new pc and i copied my save game over from a new pc and when i try and run cm it says not enough memory available try free some up, this happens if i load the save game, start a new game or quickstart a new game, this cant be the case though cause i have 1gig of mem and a brand new 120 gb hd!!!!!:confused: any ideas?

It's not the Hard Drive that it means - it's the RAM (system memory). To view your system memory go to START, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information. Deleting CM saved games wont make much difference - but uninstalling other files will. If you have any games installed you don't playe regularly try removing them. You can have more RAM put into your computer (I think PC World can do it). It costs a bit but it is worth it in the long run. I've just had it done.

Are you running Windows 2000 or XP? If so you may need to download a update to fix the memory problems.

I would point you to the direct URL, however I can't remember it and it is on the SIGames site (which is currently down), so try a Windows Update instead.

ya i have 1 gig, i was pretty sure they meant ram not hd space, but i just posted to make sure it wasnt that. im not running any programs in the background, im running win 2k , and im pretty sure i have all the updates :mad: ill try look for the update on si, if you can find a direct link plz post, or anyother solutions are fine, cause im in the middle of a season :( and i really wanna finish lol

the download doesnt work :( , the link to the site works but when you try to download its not available, also on the si games site, the picture on how to set up the options doesnt work either so if i get it, i dont know how to fix it :( , nooooooo, any other ideas? or is there any where else i can get the stuff?

Try uninstalling CM, then reinstalling it.

Can you start new games - maybe the datas corrupt in you old ones.

If you use CM patches try uninstalling them as they may be corrupt.

k i downloaded the all the stuff you said to get tom, but how do i configure QApp?? the link on the sigames site doesnt work to show how to set it up. chelseafan: tried that, cant start any type of game, new or quikstart, dont have any patches.
ill tell ya how the patches thing works out, i got class so ill respond in a few hours

i got the toolkit and update and now what?? do i need to configure something?? my friend is going to lend me his cd and ill see if it install, my cd mebbe fuked up, i hope its the cd and not a windows compatability problem :(

ok after a long while i finally got it, took me a while. well i waited on my friend to send me his cd, he lives in california lol, and the cd got lost in the post. well my cd was not the problem cause the same problem occurred with his cd. then i bought xp (i've been meaning to do this for a while anyway) well it still didnt work. and i kept trying to use the application toolkit to make it work but no luck. then i found wut i needed to do. in the old program the thing to click was different so i couldnt find it in this the new one, but i get goign throught all the options till i found it.ill post a pic and show, if any one has problems id be glad to help. the only problem is u hafta load up the toolkit and then load up your champ man fix and then rite click and run champ man, but well ill take it any way i can get it. thanks to all those who posted. now i can finally take rushden to cl glory!!!!!.

Hi I have the same problem. Champ worked fine on my old PC, and i just got a brand new one with 1 gb Ram running on XP home.
I get the same error and dont really understand what your saying about how to resolve the problem.
Your help would be gladly apreciated !

sure ill help you out man, i was pretty mad when my game didnt work :(
download this file http://download.microsoft.com/download/.NetStandardServer/Install/2.6/NT5XP/EN-US/act26.exe

thats the compatability toolkit, install it, then run it.
then go down to NewDatabase(1) (Untitled_1), click it then on the top menu bar click fix, type in the name then click browse and look for cm0102.exe in your champ man folder, then click next, for operating system mode click win98/me then click next, then scroll down to global memory status lie, then tick then then click next then finish, after wards click save in the top menu bar and save the database fix in your champ man folder, name it whatever. now you have the compatability saved, but your not done yet. everything you wanna play you gotta do the following: run the compatability toolkit, click open and open the save fix. then click run, then click browse then click cm0102.exe and then your all set. i suggest putting a shortcut to the toolkit on your desktop to make it easier. but you should be fine now.

found better way

hey guys,
i found an easier way to load up the game, each time, after you save the database fix, just double click it and the game, will be fine, i know the instructions are a bit hard, but if you need help you can always email , pm me or post a reply here.
