Arrrghhh damn the crossbar! Two of my best freekicks from Becks have hit it and went over >_<. Do you guys try to curl it around the wall or shoot it over and dip it?

Hold DOWN on the d-pad and hit to about half way. Add curve by holding DOWN and either SIDE at the same time. The result is a slower freekick with a lot of curve and dip.
25-28m
don't hold DOWN or UP, just curve and hit a little over the half. This is a strong direct freekick with some dip and curve. Holding DOWN while shooting from this distance will be too slow, holding UP will hit the wall.
28-35m
Hold UP and hit the ball at 60-65% of the powerbar. This is a hard low freekick that will clear the wall and, depending on the power, will be on goal. Add the right curve (left curve with right footers etc.) for great effect.
I find R1 and R2 don't do too much, me and my mates are a threat from freekicks using this method, I score a lot of them..
