Arrrghhh damn the crossbar! Two of my best freekicks from Becks have hit it and went over >_<. Do you guys try to curl it around the wall or shoot it over and dip it?

With Becks if its near, 20-25m, I just shot over the bar. If its very far away i still shot it over the wall but I try to add a little curve.

Also don´t forget that R1 and R2 change the way you hit the ball, R1 makes the ball go more straight and with more power and with R2 the ball goes a little bit slowe and falls faster.

Oh i never knew that. So i guess if you are close you use r2 to make the ball dip.

I am finding it hard to curl the ball. Do i use hold a direction while i press the shoot button to curl the ball?

17-24m

Hold DOWN on the d-pad and hit to about half way. Add curve by holding DOWN and either SIDE at the same time. The result is a slower freekick with a lot of curve and dip.

25-28m

don't hold DOWN or UP, just curve and hit a little over the half. This is a strong direct freekick with some dip and curve. Holding DOWN while shooting from this distance will be too slow, holding UP will hit the wall.

28-35m

Hold UP and hit the ball at 60-65% of the powerbar. This is a hard low freekick that will clear the wall and, depending on the power, will be on goal. Add the right curve (left curve with right footers etc.) for great effect.

I find R1 and R2 don't do too much, me and my mates are a threat from freekicks using this method, I score a lot of them..

i totally agree
it's kinda like in the ePSXe soccer game... used to score a lot of free kicks there ;-)

think i might run off and try a few freekicks.... the closest i've got so far is the keeper punching one away from under his crossbar, and he probably should have caught that!

try my method, it varies slightly from player to player, and players themselves will not hit it exactly the same, but you'll get more success :)

have look...in no time you'll instantly know how to hit it, it might not go in all the time (it will not) but you'll get better shots, more deflections, corners and goals...

i always put it over and dip..........forget using the normal beckham why not try ******d curl to fool the keeper with beckham.....works well with me...............but i almost always hit the target wit rivaldo,beckham and carlos.............curling round the walll the keeper gets it easily..............
