Well, he is only 15yrs. old and he brings alot of skills and entertainment for American folks. America is slowly building it`s soccer franchise as they never really payed much attention on soccer. He is very overrated though by the tv-media. For his age, he plays very well but he made a big mistake for not playing in Europe. His skills would improve, he would become a football player not a soccer one  .

He is only waisting his time in MLS. He is 15 now, when he reaches his 18th birthday he will be useless in Europe.

Under no circumstances is he ready to play better than Rooney or Reyes or any youngster in Europe. Rooney would break his skinny legs and Reyes well.. Reyes would 0WNHIM!

He had an umimpressive start in MLS, but has improved as the season went on. Adu scored three goals so far (one goal of the year candidate). He spent half the season coming off the bench for DC United but has recently won a place in their starting line-up as an attacking midfielder. However the team has been struggling.

So far Adu's greatest contribution to MLS has been the steep raise on attendance and TV ratings, not so much his play.

You're an idiot.

Too bad Beasley "wasted his time in MLS" when he was just a kid. He's starting for PSV now (at age 22), what a failure.

It's a shame all these American players like Howard waste their time in MLS. They can never be as successful as players who go to Europe as youngsters, like Kirovski.

The kid does have some talent, but is way overhyped IMO. I'm not saying that he's not going to amount to anything and am not trying to be negative, but until he gets a little older and plays in Europe we are really not going to know if he is good enough to be a top class player or just another "wonderkid" who didn't end up amounting to anything.

Youth Team
Robert Dymkowski is better.

Adu is heavily overhyped. He is good, but not phenomenal. Though of course he is only 15 so he has a lot of time to grow and become a better player...

I think he mainly needs to get stronger because he gets pushed around alot although I think he will in time, but until then I think he will sttuggle abit...

true but that's mainly becaus of his physique. you can't expect a 15 year old to fight off 30 year olds at peak body strenght. he has tremendeous skills. the only question is whether he will be able to mold them correctly and improve on them over time.

From what i've heard - there's a few who do not want him in the
MLS at his age to begin with.(Age they say)
His best thing is to try to enjoy his teen years a bit, never stray from his ability with a ball, keep a level head,...and move out of the USA lol.
He prolly may never go this route, and be content? in MLS (i hope not), but would be developed better elsewhere imo. Maybe that's his purpose? To bring soccer in the states up closer with all the more popular ones now?(NBA/MLB/NFL/NHL)

Time will tell.

i think its better for him to stay at the mls for at least a couple of years and get match experience, then move to europe

that way he will have much more experience than most youngsters

Starting XI
but then again he could be molded into a world-class player if he went to a proven youth system like the one at Ajax

the MLS seems to have been gaining power again. Wet get a game a week on Channel 5 (was DC v NE last night) and apart from that i watch most of the highlights on www.mlsnet.com

Freddy Adu seems to have a lot of talent, but just maybe wants to overdo things a little... a bit like Joe Cole in his early days. All he needs in my opinion is to learn to disciplin himself to be foccused throughout a whole game. He can pull off a trick but then the next play messes up a simple pass or lay-off. Which is normal considering he's only 15 :p . If he can be 100% efficient with the simple things, he could be a very good player, as he seems to have a good vision of the game already. (this is only based on the 2 or 3 times i've seen him this season)
