frank lampard v steven gerrard

This is an issue everone wants to solve. Is Frank Lampard, football writer's player of the year and premiership winner, better than Champions League winner Steven Gerrard? Both of them play for England and are two of the first names on Sven's team sheet, but who is better? I think Lampard is better because he scores more goals and sets up lots of attacks. What do you think?

Lampard is a better attacking player, but Gerrard is more well-rounded.

Gerrard is more of a leader so if I had to choose I'd take Steven Gerrard.

Both are very solid players who don't mess around when they get on the pitch me personally I like Lampard more he seems to be a little more consistent but if I had to choose I couldn't choose one.

Gerrard is your 4 litre, v8, turbo charged mid-field engine. He's the complete mid-fielder.

Lampard is a very clever attacking mid-fielder. Sits in the hole just infront of the defenders and cuases havoc.

They are both quite different players.

Gerrard is probably the most overrated player out there right now and doesn't hold a candle on Lampard who is probably the most consistent midfielder in the world right now. He attacks more than he defends because Mourinho plays 2 midfielders behind so he doesn't have to.

but Gerrard is just so popular for some strange reason... definitely the media hype has a lot to do with this

I really don't know what the fuss is about with Gerrard.

I've watched a lot of Liverpool's domestic and european games this season and I find Xabi Alonso a better and more important player for the team than Gerrard. I'm not saying Gerrard is bad, I just can't see what's so special about him.

I mean he has great shooting (so does Lampard), he defends OK (Alonso and even Hamman defend better than him), and he has good passing, and always works his butt for the team, but other than that I see nothing that makes him a prodigy. He's an above average player and that's all.

Lampard kicks his butt on the attacking side with better pace, dribbling and finishing. The only thing I see better than him is his size (Gerrard is a big boy) and therefore his heading.

Not to mention some occasional blunders from Gerrard like England - France in the Euro 2004 and Liverpool - Chelsea this year for some cup.

Gerrard is probably a tiny bit overrated, But he does have it all, defend attack everything...Which Lampard doesnt. Although Lampard is better coming forward and scores more goals. On his day though nobody drives a team more than Gerrard.

i choose Lampard too. Im with Virgo on this one, Gerrard has alot of heart, which counts for alot, but other than that, nothing outstanding. ive never seen a game from him where he'd dominate it, sending all good passes around, and making good attacks. i dont know, all his premiership and CL games were such, that he didnt stand out. apart from the CL final when he worked his ass off on the left back i think, or was it right back .

I'm beginning to think people are incredibly fickle to be honest.

People say Gerrard can't defend.

Did no-body see him play right-back in the CL final? That was some of the best defending I've ever seen.

People say Gerrard is less consistant.

For the past 2 seasons Gerrard has possibly been Liverpool's best player, its only this season that he has looked anywhere near inconsistant. Its only this season that Lampard has really been at the top of his game.

I've also seen Lampard go missing in big games, like in the Champions league knock out stages this season where as Gerrard saves his best for the big games.

Lampard was Chelsea's best player in 2003/2004 and the most logical choice after Thierry Henry to pick up the EPL Player of the Year last season.

He was also better than Gerrard in the Euro.

This contest is between a media darling and the most consistent player around, and as biased and chelsea hater as you may be, you gotta recognize facts not reputation.
