Maybe not woodshop but whatever subject you have at school that can easily end up in a serious injury.

Well, what, that is IF there's been one, has been the biggest injury sustained in your class?

For me, it just happened today. Friend of mine was trimming down some wood on the bandsaw and he pushed too hard and some of his skin came off his thumb, he was bleeding pretty bad, was out for the rest of the day and came back with about 6 stitches.

On another note, I did have a close encounter, when someone was drilling a hole into their wood, the drill bit got stick in the wood, and started to turn and since it was big it hit a part of the machine and came flying right at me, and missed my balls by about 3 centimeters.

an idiot friend of mine was using a chisel, but didnt put the piece of wood on the vice. he just held it in his hands and was chipping away. well it was an accident waiting to happen and it did.

as he was chipping away, the piece of wood slid out, and the chisel sliced straight acros his thumb, cutting half of it off. it was dangling halfway and the bone was visible. he just stared there and looked at it while a puddle of blood filled by. i never heard people scream that hard as the classroom did at that moment. he was actually able to walk, so me and my other friend took him to the nurse, and he ended up being transferered to a hospital.

We used to have a shop teacher who only had his thumb and his pinky in one hand because he cut the middle three on a table saw lol.

My only "injury" was when I got a splinter carrying a door to the auditorium for a play. Was bleeding like a bitch though.

This wasn't in my class but a guy at my school had a fit when he was using the pillar drill once. His face fell into it and cut up one side of it:kader:

The worst injury I saw was in Metal tech. Like woodshop but with metal. Anyway some loner kid was making a knife or pipe or something. Anyway there was this yelp and the son of a bitch caught his arm on fire. Well his shirt from a blow torch. Burned his hand pretty bad. But that is what happen when you screw around.

I can remember in my last year at school my mate was using a blowtorch to do some forgeing so he goes and aims the blowtorch up near his face and singes his hair and his eyebrows. Any closer to his face and he would have been burnt badly.

hhhmmm.....you almost lose your balls, some guy gets his hand cut off, and there are drills flying everywhere...maybe the teacher should pay more attention to what you guys are doing....maybe you guys should pay attention to what you are doing. :kader:

Eh? Accidents are bound to happen.

Drills flying everywhere?

Explain. :p

BESIDES: Read some of the other posts and the 2 accidents I reported make us look like rocket engineers.:D ;)

im so glad im don't taking all these dumb tech classes....everyday i went into class.....i was afraid for my life. :( The only reason i made it out alive...was my will to NOT get a splinter, NOT to get my fingers cut off, and NOT to get my face burned by a blow torch.......:(

I've never seen major injuries in our Woodshop-classes (eventho they ended years ago for me..)

I wonder why the teachers cant take control of the scene in some countries..

My dad's got a couple of tales from his days as a butcher.

He's lost the top of his thumb and saw a mate lose a hand. Oh, and he collapsed once at work. Had it happened ten minutes later, he'd have collapsed whilst using a bandsaw.

Woodshop isn't for dropouts lol, I'm taking it and I got honor-roll this semester.

Getting honor roll for woodshop is like getting honor roll for being a teachers assisant. It is almost impossible not to get.
