It is said you can use the 2d engine if you don't want the 3d engine. Which is what I'm going to do, because the 3d one looks a bit pre-alpha-beta to me.

Probably, they said they're keeping all options open, so everyone can be happy.

Yeah, the 3D engine looks a bit worse than I expected, but, I'll wait and see.

From the videos, it sounds like they actually addressed all the problems me (probably some of you guys too) and the others at their forum were crying about. Starting from scratch on the transfer module, assistant feedback, and the ****ty match engine. It seems like they actually listened to all our complaints at their forum which is why I can't wait to get my hands on this. I don't think this will disappoint, and who cares about the 3D crap, it's the just the visual representation and not the actual match engine. The game will play the same in text-only, 2D, and 3D so I don't see the big deal. Just a marketing technique to draw in new customers I say. The hardcore FM geeks like us don't care, we'll play the game anyway.

I've used text for years Shifty, there's no way they'll ever get rid of it. CM01/02 for the win (Y)

Actually, I'm a fan of 2D all the way. Sure it has it's issues, but it's a lot better than reading some text on and on.

Even that is fun, but 2D suits me better.

I play with the text and just watch the key moments, watching the whole game in 2d takes too long to get along with the game

Because I have an imagination, I guess.

That and sentimentality - CM0102 remains the best match engine.

aye. That Cm01/02 text also had this.. fun factor. Playing matches never felt so exciting after CM4+

I think playing with text is silly...Esp. you guys who keep saying how you should play the game properly, not cheat etc...

How can you possibly see how your tactics are working/going wrong if you dont ever use the 2D engine...The text is like reading a report in the newspaper :p The engine shows exactly what's happening.

It isnt the 2D engine that made the CM4+ games less fun, it was the less realistic results, and the continuous bugs.

That and I think there is too many wowsers who for no apparent reason were really against SI ever releasing any match engine, and so now they just make a point about it whenever possible. But for the most accurate manager experience, you do need atleast 2D, so you can see where your men are in/out of position, what each is doing etc

this is class. i gotta agree with u for this one.

& one more thing..by just using text...i wonder how many 'holidays' that u take every time u play the game to let it 'simulate' for u.

yea you are lazy. no doubt about it..& when u feel boring u will just go & click 'go for holiday'
*this is my assumption to SOME of you.NOT ALL

Some of us just want a nice fun game, not a new part time job.

I'm fine with people who want to study their opposition and tweak their tactics. If that's what they enjoy doing, fantastic. I just like the "being in control of the team I like" feeling, and I don't need 2D for what *I* enjoy.

I'm with Alex on this one. If you want a nice fun game and you like being in control of the team you like you certainly want to play in 2D because you see alot more detail. You actually know what's going on.

The only reasonable argument you've got is that it's your preference cause you started playing CM like that some long time ago and because of that you're used to it, which I understand. Any other arguments, like saying it costs more time, are just BS.
