**** this game, for real. Not only is it impossible for me to sit on a lead (any lead), but now I'm starting to get red cards. Went out to Valencia in the First Knockout Round. First leg in Spain: completely dominated the game and lost 2-1. Second leg at home: completely dominated the game, hit the post 4 times, Olic missed twice from inside the 6 yard box. Scored in the 78th and 82nd only for Soldado to loft a header over Butt from the 18 yard line, the cross coming from about midfield in the 84th. 96th minute Demichelis gets sent off, 104th Valencia get the winner. And then just for fun Gomez gets sent off in the 116th. ****. This. Game.

EDIT: It's mid-March and I have been held to a clean sheet only 1 time all season. And yet my team ******* sucks. UGH!!!!!!

Anyway, as I've said, grabbed the job at Roma, they're a bit worse than I thought having lost Totti(too old) and De Rossi(City :(), also Vucinic is a gonner for the start of the season, 3 months injured.

Here are my transfers so far though, made a few nice catches. Could have made even better ones, but Roma has the problem of no one wanting to play for them...

edit: just landed De Guzman for 4,5M and Barazite on loan

Not for lack of trying, you can bet your ass. He just wouldn't come, as did many other players who were available :(

So, after a few first performances below what I expected, I decided to try on the tactic I used at Porto with a few tweaks, and since then I've only had wins. That being said, the first two games of the season were agains Inter and Samp away, so... And the many players I brought in didn't allow the team to gel in time for the start of the Serie A. Anyway, with 8 games played I'm only 3 points away from the top, and the season is now really starting.

Well I didn't win anything. Runners up in the league and runners up in the German Cup via a missed van Bommel penalty in the shootout. Anyway, Bayern's profitability is very accurately represented in the game; despite not winning anything and only getting to the First Knockout Round I made 57 million euros in the first season. Wow.

You guys notice this new feature?

I've had problems getting enough money to sign some players, but it looks like this can slightly work around it. Now.... have the board negotiate a massive Dzeko (or Eto'o, or Balotelli) signing or try to sign Luis Suarez who is transfer listed for 6.5m. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

my whole juventus tactic is based on counter attacking catenaccio

also, the backroom comment things are always pretty stupid, they usually tell you to replace your best freekick taker with someone who is worse :nape:

How do you play defence? In my 4-3-3 I have both side defenders as wing backs with the support function; and both central defenders as central defenders with the defend function. My defensive line is also a bit lower than normal now that I'm with Roma, at Porto I had it a bit higher than normal unless I was playing UCL.

I know. The ****heads try to make me put a Dinamo favourite (Galamaz) the captain of Steaua. Anyway, I dismiss every backroom advice except the ones concerning individual training. And I hate it when they tell me that I should remove an offer made for a player that they consider too weak for us.

Exactly. Mostly the advices are crap. Although I agree with the individual training ones, I consider them because I can't be arsed to go through every player and see what he would need (mind you I do this for the most important ones).

Same.

I play about the same as you, Fili. Fullbacks on automatic (for Control it is support), Central Defenders Defend (although I've also tried Stopper/Cover). Maybe it's my midfield, but I had van Bommel as a ball winning midfielder defend, so it's not like I had a ton of guys up the pitch.

This year I'm using a more Arsenal type of tactic. Kroos has replaced van Bommel as my other CM. So Schweinsteiger is a box-to-box and then Kroos is a deep lying playmaker kind of like Wilshire or maybe Scholes at United. Stay at home, don't get caught up, but spray passes everywhere. I scored 5 goals in my first game of the new season, but still conceded two. Neuer is my keeper too now. It's frustrating.

Check out the match preparation and tick the "defensive movement" option, I don't know. Is the team gelled enough? You have to see how you're conceding...

By the way, things are clearing up; obviously helped by the fact that Roma had not qualified for Europe, but now the team is finally getting to where I wanted. This is what I love about the Serie A, I have 5 losses and I'm still top of the league with this great win over the Nerazzurri (H)

brought in Diaby and Arnautovic to give more depth (Diaby actually to be my finally-put-it-all-together-box-to-box starter :D), and Romário, the new Cafú (H) :

I have a sweeper and 2 centerbacks infront of him as central defenders, two defensive midfeilders one on ball winning and the other on support, two advanced speedy wingers and at home a center midfeilder on support and two tall strikers and away a deep lying playmaker and a tall striker and an attacking midfeilder, basically in defence it is as congested as possible with at least 5 defencive players, deep defencive line so they over commit in attack leaving gaps for the ball to be played out wide to the wingers who get it and run and deliver to amauri/iaquinta's head

Took my computer to work today so I could play for 10 minutes at a time during breaks. Dropped it on the ground and it seems to corrupted my Bayern save. I only had 1 save file and no autosaves. FML!! Suarez was going to be a sensation!

EDIT: Perhaps my problem was not using match prep (left it to my ass man) and doing the same with oppo instructions.

I'm currently having a great season with Juventus: 14 clean sheets out of 19 Serie A games.

(One result is missing at the top: a 2-1 win vs. Milan)

I play a 4-1-2-1-2. Control against weaker teams, standard against strong teams. For both settings these are the instructions:

GK: Goalkeeper - Defend (Gianluigi Buffon)

LB: Full back - Automatic (Paolo De Ceglie)
CB: Central defender - Defend (Giorgio Chiellini)
CB: Central defender - Defend (Leonardo Bonucci)
RB: Full back - Automatic (Marco Motta)

DM: Defensive midfielder - Defend (Felipe Melo/ Yann M'Vila)
CM: Central midfielder - Support (Claudio Marchisio)
CM: Central midfielder - Support (Alberto Aquilani)
AM: Trequartista - Attack (Javier Pastore)

ST: Advanced forward - Attack (Alessandro Del Piero)
ST: Advanced forward - Attack (Edin Dzeko)

I also let my assistant do the match prep and the opp. instructions, Shifty.

I worked myself into great debts getting Pastore, Dzeko and M'Vila. They're all on 48 month pay-offs structures, but I HAD to get them. I felt I couldn't win with the real life 4-4-2 and the criminally underrated Milos Krasic. Anyway, it's working out so far; most goals scored, least goals against.

I've been getting regular wins now, haven't lost in 8 games. Also quite a few clean sheets, been winning 1-0 Italian style (H).

Oh btw, the amount of yellow cards is ridiculous!
