Firewall with SP2?

I am using the microsoft firewall with SP2 & it recommends to disable any other firewalls that are in use. I`m still currently using Norton Firewall and think its ok to be using the two but just wanted a second opinion?

Use the hardware firewall on your router (forward ports for better performance in MSN, games etc.) and NAV if you really need it.

Not all routers have a hardware firewall, if not they will have NAT. If you port-forward then you will leave holes in your computer security if that progrm that uses the ports isn't using them. Thus you should also use a firewall on your PC like ZoneAlarm.

But i do agree that SP2 firewall is:sb9:

it was only released recently and still has a **** load of bugs.

i installed it for like a day and hated it

uninstalled without any doubts

it sucks

XP firewall sucks. But norton is not the best 2. I am using outpost 2 now and i am very happy. I was using steganos older version for a bit but didn't like it much. Outpost 2 is very fast and good looking. Support for plug ins too.

Still using norton and might try out that outpost and see how that works. Not having great experiences with sp2 either but i`ll keep it in the mean time.

i preety much hate ms but i think we are not 100 % right. Since 95% of ppl all over the world use Windows a hacker who wants to create a mess will attack windows. A research or smth like this find that linux has more security gaps than XP SP1. (Mac OS was out of this) Plus that ppl hate M$ coz they are not letting other OS to be developed so programs made for Windows will work so that most hackers attack windows for this reason too.

Now i haven't tryed firewall but i can bet that it will be better than XP original. And true that firewall of XP sucks. But for ppl with new pc it will be good coz they won't know what is a firewall and which one is good. So at least it may stop some attacks (OMG i wanna see Xp firewall To stop 1st time in my life :p)
