BACKGROUND AND DESCRIPTION:
***************************

NOTE: To 3rd party sites, feel free to mirror but please link back to this thread, if its posted elsewhere please post a link so I can add it to this first post.

*** UPDATE FOR FIFA14: PLEASE DOWNLOAD ONLY THE FIFA14 VERSIONS FOR 14 AT THE MOMENT, THEY ARE THE SAME PACKS AS WITH 13 (NORMAL VOLUME) BUT I HAVE MATCHED THE AUDIO LEVEL OF THE MP3'S TO GAME AUDIO OF 14 SET TO 10 TO COMPENSATE FOR THE MAX AUDIO CHANTS BUG IN 14 **

USAGE / PERMISSIONS: If you are a conversion maker or patch creator and feel your patch or mod will benefit from these sounds then feel free to distribute them within your packs, all I ask is the metadata is left in tact on the MP3’s and credits are placed in readme’s with a link back to this thread (as it might get updates every now and again).

In Fifa I always felt the stadium sounds were good but there was space for more. So I decided to source HQ/HD crowed and stadium audio (or as close to best quality as I could find), from live footage/library sounds to create my own tailored ambience MP3’s that could be used as custom audio with the flexibility of playlists that Fifa allows.

Most use this feature for “chants”, but after testing I realised it could be pushed further and used for entire sequences of self made stadium audio to run throughout the game at long lengths and most important in STEREO. What started as personal use sound design practice I decided to release as a soundpack for the community as I think it would be something people might use.

Files here have running times to up to 8 minutes, and they work fine in-game.

***********
WHAT IS IT?:
***********

1 - 2.5 min & 8 min full ambient sequences tailored using Logic Audio studio level software/Broadcast standard Senheiser headphones & Krok studio monitors, use of compression/limiting/layers & reverb. Each sound has smooth fade-in & fade out transitions to smoothly work in and out of EA’s own audio.

This pack has ambient audio sequences ranging from large crowed noise and lower ambient chatter and noise & shouts, also stadium sized VuVuzela horns (something that I feel should have been in the game vanilla), Brazilian drumming (who doesn’t like that?), distant drumming, filtered drumming (lots of low end stadium percussion bass which I love) & just an all round larger “feel” to the game when used.

All files have been levelled and mixed direct with in-game comparisons on headphones/studio monitors & PC speakers. This was designed in such a way that its supposed to “fit in” with all other EA sounds, its not a force fed sound to blow your head off for the sake of it so bear that in mind, its supposed to be an expansion pack on what EA didn’t fully do :)

I have used Stereo imaging to make mono sources stereo, this fits into a 10 o’clock to 2 o’clock field range which sits comfortably between EA’s vanilla audio and the commentary. The effect is best described as a “gap that is filled” and a much more lively and wider/thicker sound to stadiums, esp. when on headphones.

Smaller stadiums sound more busy and bigger, large stadiums feel/sound even larger. If you use them I’m pretty confident you wont want to play without them, once you get used to it and then play with the chants volume setting down, there is a large difference before & after some subtle but its a case of you miss it when its not there which was my main goal.

I’ve made it so you can pick and choose whatever you want to use, its advised to play 10 min + games to benefit as you can repeat some of the sequenced 3 times and that would cover and entire game easy, let alone all the other options. I play 20 min games and its seamless enough.

If you want to spread these around with your own chants, simply set up your own playlists and pick what you want, its made so it can be a filler to chants to break them up.

A final tech note is that some of the sounds listened to raw outside of the game may seem quite "pushed"or loud as an MP3. This is because EA's sound engine always manages to lower the chants volume channel over its own sounds so you have to over compensate to push the volume more to fit in the game. Once they play in the game engine it makes more sense.

You will also find that Fifa engine will "Duck"/(Dip) the chants volume when teams are in the box either end, this is so the crowed response audio can kick in and you don't have control over that, so bear this in mind at those times.

NOTE: My playlist are just optional, if you use media player way to import playlists and MP3's how you like then feel free to use that method.

The pack contains a folder named “StadiumAmbience” which contains the main audio files.

Included in the download are M3U playlists to use or just demonstrate the sounds in-game.

NOTE: In the playlist file download you will see an addition playlists that split general ambience and all horn/drumming Brazilian style audio separate so if you prefer them separate, these replace "FMSA_StadiumAmbience.m3u" which contains everything by default so its up to you.

THESE ARE:

"FMSA_StadiumAmbience_ALLDRUMS.m3u" = all Brazilian drumming Vuvuzela only.
"FMSA_StadiumAmbienceONLY.m3u" = everything else but excluding Brazilian drumming Vuvuzela.

Use either of the three or if you want everything for general ambience just use the default "FMSA_StadiumAmbience.m3u".

Place "StadiumAmbience" sound pack folder on the ROOT of your C: Drive only. These now show up properly in Fifa13 with proper names.

Place these playlist files into your "My Playlists" folder used by media player under c: (windows profile folder).

Under XP that can be found at:

Documents and Settings\(*YOURPROFILENAME*)\My Documents\My Music\My Playlists

Or Vista/Win7 its %appdata% my playlists.

In-game setup

Next go into Fifa and navigate to:

** DIFFERENT IN FIFA14: TO LOCATE CUSTOM CHANTS MENU SEE THIS VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fyt2pFrLS0M **

CUSTOMISE FIFA > SETTINGS > GAME SETTINGS > scroll to "AUDIO".

Set all level sliders to 10 max. If you need to adjust you can then turn down the ambient sounds
using the "User Chants Volume" slider but it should be set to 10.

Also don't get confused with turning down "Crowed" volume, this will actually turn down EA crowed AND
Chants (stupid on EA's part but they are not independent).

Now you need to go to custom chants to set up your preferences as follows:

CUSTOMISE FIFA > MY MUSIC & CHANTS >

From here you can set the playlists for all different modes. For each mode/option click and select the
playlist name that shows from the list to confirm (if it doesn't show any you haven't installed playlist files
to correct place so see above again) - heres the playlist options:

LEAGUE OR CUP WINNING CHANTS = FMSA_WinningGameAmbience

If you have Xfi or Bass enhancing/EQ on your soundcard .. then give it blast with some extra bass ;)

If you don't hear anything you either picked the wrong matching playlist and drive location of the main files, or you haven't selected the right "my music"/"playlists" folder located on the c: windows system drive so make sure that's right, you know it works when the playlists show up in the custom audio selection.

FINAL NOTE: Also these are demo playlists, you can set your own however you want to so this isnt set in stone, if you have custom chants, then sprinkle some of these into the playlist to break things up so its no so repetitive that's also what they were created for, its a soundpack to be used in different ways

I have added some more in-game examples including the Barclays PL intro from the ambience pack here (sound cloud audio stream):

https://soundcloud.com/fifamonkey2012/fmsa-in-game-using-xfi-svm-eq

This is also an example of using Xfi dedicated card to boost everything (for those wanting boosting but without editing many files) ..

Here are the control panel settings I have used in the above stream audio example:

EQ & Bass Boost:

SVM - (A Limiter that pushed all levels to max through the card)

Crystalliser - An "Aural exciter" .. (boosts top end brightness and bass levels)

As mentioned before if you can get an XfI card or equivalent Soundblaster dedicated card that using this control panel boost elements it improved things greatly for audio, they are not that expensive, I use Xfi Fatality Gamer Pro card.

This new thread is the pack form 13 but as you can see I have edited a 14 volume tweak pack to lower the volume to match the game setting all sliders to 10, simply lower all other sliders if you want chants louder, the bug in case you didn't know is the chants slider is broken, wont lower volume or mute at zero and the volume is maxed out constant so my fifa13 normal level packs are stupid loud in 14 with no vol control.

All play-lists as per instructions work the exact same way in 14 just as it was in 13, even though standard version is tagged as 13 they work the same in 14 but are too loud due to bug. So remember in 14 set all volumes to 10 as this is what they have been levelled too. Tested on headphones, studio monitors & standard PC speakers, the audio should blend into the rest of EA audio its not designed to be in your face.

Please dont post requests for certain teams & chants I just do what I feel sounds good for personal use and this so far is what I have shared if you want extra ear tickling in-game, see background & description section explains all :)

As above I have uploaded an extended ambience pack with sound examples on soundcloud, lower volume for fifa14 and normal volume versions.

I have combined general ambience (in total 10 mins run time) taken from BBC football games with sourced PA system audio plus on-the-pitch action of player shouts whistles and calls (which work well as your playing). This pack is designed for setting as standard chants when no goal has been scored, and then use the other packs for goal scored ambience & chants pack. That way you have a lull and using scored packs you get a much bigger reaction once a goal has been scored using the scored FMSA playlist/pack or negative chants from chants expansion pack if you loosing, well, that was the idea.

All designed to load together and use as you wish with your own playlist mixes :)

Tested and levelled for both 13/14 through studio monitors/headphones/pc speakers to make sure its balanced well.

Hope you enjoy.

EDIT: The next pack will focus purely on Brazilian theme and world cup specifically (when i get more time) :)

Please do let me know how you go with it, feeback is always wanted & welcomed.

EDIT .. just updated all instructions with a video link to a helpful vid showing the sneaky menu for custom chants in 14, most instructions were based on fifa13 location.

BTW if anyone reads this and has decent sources for fog horn stadium sounds, brazil sounds, drumming, or videos with lots of brazil crowed audio (without commentators) thats not crappy phone quality then PM me :) World cup decent long play themes and other music links are also welcomed.

I have just added an update to the extended ambience sound-pack as posted above.

5 x 2min extra Mp3's and updated play list (10 more minutes play time = 20 minutes in total for the pack).

I added more impact to the next set of 5 with extra PA system chatter, more prominent players calls from the pitch and just a more busier sound mixed to the first part of the pack. mp3's 1-5 are more sombre for lower team use, 6-10 are larger for larger league use before scoring a goal (that's the idea again). Pack updated in above post for 13/14 versions.

Hi Fidel thank mate :)

Well I actually use Adobe Audition / Logic Pro and all are wav 32 bits when editing I pack down to 128k for size reasons and I just want to keep a standard bit rate in case fifa engine throws a fit im not aware of with any other bit rate types, the audible trade off isn't much at all based on the source audio so 128k covers it all well enough. I use a batch convert macro for audition for all formats, so I know what your saying and its all covered. Got quite a quick process for it all now :)

This isn't a mod as such its using the official custom chants section in fifa so it will work on-line as long as you set whatever chants you want in the menu for pro/fav team etc. Standard practice in all fifa's since this feature was added.

Always remember my playlists are to demo it if you want to run quickly, but id advise making your own to match whatever you like.

All you do is select the mp3s you want (highlight them), right click and select "add to media player play-list" - in media player you then select from the top of the list "save playlist" and save it to your default play list my docs folder, whatever name you give the playlist will then show up when you search playlists in the fifa custom menu.

For example I have a playlist with all ambience (no drums & chants) and saved that for all foreign teams (UK chants on foreign leagues is a bit odd). Then another with English chants for all UK teams and so on & another for England world team with specific chants. Winning & drumming and larger sounds for all "team winning" & sombre to team loosing and so on. I tried to cover all areas so far for moods.

Later if I get more time I will focus on some more chants expansions for languages like french/german/russian and another pack just for Brazil world cup (for any mods that come or a DLC). Slow but sure.

Your asking the wrong question, this isn't a mod so playlist files & "appear in the game automaticly" are the same thing, playlists = what fifa13 sees in chants menu section to appear to set them up.

Please refer to all the instructions in this thread, this isnt a "drop the files in game run a regen it works" situation. FIFA has no clue about MP3's until you use play lists to point to them and tell fifa in the customisation menu what to use and where as you see fit.

Another way of putting it is, if your expecting this to be done for you and you cant be bothered to set a few things up with instructions then avoid, other than that enjoy it. :) I mean that in a good way BTW. the most helpfull part I can do is make some default playlists, drop the mp3's where instructions say, dop playlists where instructions say, load game, goto custom chants section (see instructions) and set them up.

I wasn't finding the Playlist folder in my Windows 8, I just created the list
Forgive me for my ignorance :Carlos*o:
One last question, the Extended Ambience is an update of the original pack or completely separate?

Its a new pack, treat them all like addons to each other to mix together and use as you want. Read the description for each as it shows what they are based on, you wont get any overwrites becuase if using the playlist supplied they are all to be copied to C: under different folder names (the MP3 files) playlists are all named different too.

And again you can place them where you want if you want to create your own playlists, mine just point at C: for ease of making a consistent demo playlist for people to use on native drive. Or you can re edit my playlists and replace MP3 lists to same MP3's on different location and re-save playlsts back again, completely up to you if you are ok with messing and editing playlists mainly.
