oh man, what do you think man?

If you wan't real football, stay well clear of any FIFA garbage for about 10 years, if you want unrealistic babys game, then FIFA2003 should do the trick just fine

(ps. it's gonna be a waste of a CD, yet again, I guarantee it)

PES (PES 2 or winnning eleven 6) is the best soccer game ever! i played fifa for a long time (since 98) but it's just changing into a arcade game! what i want is a soccer simulation and so i boght myself a PS2 and PES too! in PES every situation is different! and it's damn realistic too! sure there are some bugs, errors (whatever) but it's much better than fia 2k2 or 2k1! i hate about htat long animations in fifa 2k2! but there is one point in fifa really like, the presentation of a game! like flags, bengals, musik and so on! i would like to see a soccer game made by EA and konami! that wouldt be great!

i hope everybody understands me (cause PRO_TOO is a ****in' german)! *g*

PES (pro evolution soccer) is the european version of winning eleven. and the new version PES2 (in japan it's called winning eleven 6) is coming out this month or maybe in october. go to sports gaming network or IGN and see the previews for yourself. u can also download some videos. this videos are replays that show u some goals. i like the video number 6 cause it shows how realistic PES is.

as i said, in PES every situation is different. it's hard to explan for me cause my english is not that good. but if u shoot it depands on your speed (there are 3 speed levels) the direction to the goal and the skills of the player. and you'll never see the same situation twice. and in fifa (2k2) every foul, every shot looks nearly the same. another example: if u hit a pass from the outside high into the direction of the goal and u wanna make a header, u can move your player (the striker). so if the ball is in the air u get the control of the reciever. this it needs a little bit time to figure out how to move him. in the first games you make you'll miss the ball cause u move the reviever away or something. but if u learn it you can make beautiful goals. it all depands on the way you move your player to the ball. if u are too late he'll not get the full controll of the ball and maybe the ball goes over the goal or something.

so thats not all what makes PES so special but i hope u understand a little bit of what i was writing.

U live in Portugal(i do)? Do u have a ps2?If so then PES2 is the only (football)game u want to play...why cause it is the most perfect simulation out there.

The Best game for the US is World Tour Soccer 2003 (TIF 2003). It makes FIFA feel like 2-d pinball in MIME.

OF course, if PES2 actually shipped in the states that would change my opinion.

I'll buy WTS2003 the day it is out, and I'll probably rent Fifa2003 just to give it a chance.

The movie is interesting, but the way the people are playing the game is very poor. Experienced PES/WE players would play the game totally differently to that. There is no attempt to keep possession, no build-up play and very poor finishing (especially by whoever was playing Italy).

If you look at that video, and think it looks too hectic: it is. The game can be played far better than that. ;) Watch it more for a feel of the animation and speed of the game, rather than the way the game is being played.

yup,
those vids acutally do kinda make PES/WE look bad.

It far better to download either
'the_man's long pass vid.
or
'nickclubman's great WE6 vid.

Now, those really let you know how PES/WE are supposed to be!

...on the other hand it shows you that you can play PES 2 with different styles, depending on your own class, taste and used strategies/formations.
That's the classy thing at it.
Just as in real football.

But I agree, it looks like two 6 year old kids played it (where did I hear that before?? :D )

I`ve played TIF2003 AND PES2 so I can only comment on those.

If you want gameplay with depth and realism but awful graphics go for PES2. If you want gameplay which is fun and easy to pickup and great graphics go for TIF2003.

I`m both an avid gamer and football season ticket holder so I`d like to think I know a thing or two about football games.
At the recent ects show I played both with a non-gamer friend.

PES2 felt more realistic but my friend and I found it often frustrating to play. Players would stop looking at the ball when only feet away from it unable to move towards the ball. It was very difficult to run around players so passing and through balls were the only real option. The variety of animations were great, but werent well animated giving a wooden look to replays. Also the stadium graphics were poor, especially the crowd. Felt like it had good depth of play. Around the goal area it was very realistic
in gameplay. Some referee decisions were awful, giving fouls for
a simple headed with no contact between players. Also I got a straight red card in the first minute when I tackled a player in the middle of the field and I got the ball. Not good.
Nice to have a good training mode that is fun.

Onto TIF2003, straight away it looks ultra realistic in comparison. Animations look better, graphics better on a whole. Players faces look much better than 2002`s attempt. Gameplay was marginally better, very easy to pick up and play and very exciting. My friend found it easier to play aswell. Just it was less realistic gameplay than PES2, maybe because of the ball physics were less accurate. TIF also had a fair great variety of teams from all major leagues around the world. It has the ability to manage these teams in their true seasons for 2002/3. Buying and selling players along the way.

I`ll probably buy both. PES2 to play myself and TIF with friends.

You have PES 2? Must be the demo-version, because the original is not out yet. I wonder howmuch of the game is finished on your version... 70%?

I remember buying PES and it took me some time to get used to things, so maybe that's here the case too, but I can only guess, because I don't have that demo (lucky you! ;) )

I have seen some screenshots and I liked the graphics very much, I can't understand you say it's poor. They use just other color-athmosphere than FIFA, more like pastel-colors, but it is just a matter of taste I think....

That's a fantastic build up, the_man, not to mention the finishing!
If there are FIFA-players who never has seen PES/ISS/WE6, just watch this movie. Look, THIS is gameplay!
The graphics are not the best, but that's because of the TV card (sorry the_man! :D ), not because of the graphics of the game and yes, it is raining during the match :)

Thanx Han. Yeah the picture is not the greatest that is because I used Vdub to shave off some of the grafx and the sound so that the video will be smaller.
