All I can say is that its about goddamn time that Fifa took notice of our country. Its High time that our country should get a better organized structure for the league. Our FA has been useless and I hope that Blatter's visit would help take steps in the right direction.

Well with the amount of mad cricket fans India has, imagine what would if 50% of them were converted to football?

i guess cricket will take a back seat for a while due to the **** performance at world cup.
1st thing they need to do is get all the states involved. its primarily west bengal and goa which are football prominent states. they need to create more awareness in other states too.

^yeah....i think the current situation of cricket 'craziness' is mostly due to our over-the-top media who didnt cover any other sport except cricket in the past...now more attention is given to other sports plus the gr8 coverage of football by ESPN Star,Ten Sports (to an extent) in India has helped tremendously in garnering interests in the game in the common man and most importantly the youngsters

The factors that hinder development of Indian football is our fcuked up national association, no professionalism, planning and lack of funds, meagre media coverage of local/national football events (which is improving though !), coupled with over emphasis on studies at school/college and scorching temperatures

Lets hope Blatter realises there is potential in this country and work should start at the grassroots level

it's all been downhill for indian football since they "nearly" qualified for the 2nd round of AFC qualifiers and East Bengal won the ASEAN championships. I thought Indian football would improve, with the hiring of Stephen Contastine but nothing has happened, he was sacked, India is on a steady decline and I can't see things changing, the cricket thing was only a temporary setback and I can see cricket continuing to be the dominant sport, plus we need to replace baichung soon also

Let's face it, unless our infrastructure is improved upon, nothing is going to happen. Unfortunately our FA is filled with short-sighted, greedy people who just want money

if u guys have seen national league matches on dd sports, just merely lookin at the state of the field on which the teams play is pathetic. even school grounds have more grass on them. seriously blatter shouldnt just give money to the FA, rather make them accountable for each penny they use.

Yeah you are all right.I practically come from a place where football is the main game although a ********game like cricket is coming up. I just wanted to know where in your places is football talked among in scools,colleges or offices and clubs. Don't forget to watch Football Crazy On ESPN/Star Sports on 26th April which is coming to Delhi.The only thing which can be said is that the main hope is players like Michael Chopra be agreed to play for INDIA because it does'nt seem like he is going to be selected for England
