Yeah, close it. For heaven's sake don't allow anyone to post an opinion contrary to the mindless fanboy elites. Censor immediately the evil one who speaks ill of the work of art that is the FIFA 2004 Intro Movie.

Please, let's not have any discussion with people taking up contrary positions. Anything could happen - even a reasoned debate!! We can't have that - not on a forum. Forums must be for mindless fanboy drones only, and only positive, nurturing posts about the game should exist.

The music is pretty bad. All the 'trax' (TM) are pretty lame. Post-new-wave garbage and 'euro-welle' - basically it's all muzak for the new millennium. The Jam is about the only band on there worth listening to, and the track they chose is the most crassly-commercial of all their tunes. At least (I'm assuming) you can replace the 'trax' with real music.

its funny that you've wasted so much time writing long replies that makes you sound like a complete idiot.

Well done.

I never claimed to be spending time wisely. This is, after all, a forum for discussion of a computer simulation of football. Nothing discussed here is of any real importance, so everyone here is wasting time. So if I'm an idiot by your definition, everyone here must be equally idiotic - including you (especially if you allow my musings to upset you).

And while my replies are at least written with some thought, showing that I'm at least able to hold my own when faced with a bunch of trolls and flamers, you've written a short reply which merely shows you to be a bully.

Bravo. The world always needs more bullies.

Now call me more names, please. Ad hominem attacks are always fun. They are always available for use by those who are too mentally weak or too ignorant to be able to engage in rational discussion. Now that ad hominem attack at least has the benefit of being better disguised than yours. Yours showed no artistry at all. I hope you're a better FIFA 2004 player than you are a rhetorician.

hmm we dont want to start any flaming threads, but I agree with Beery...This is a forum and people do have a right to freedom of speach, and if some knobs wanna pick fights just because they dont agree on something someone else said, they are the bullies and they dont deserve to be respected.

Call me crazy but I thought this was about the intro video and not a fight for freedom of speech. If some disagrees with something so be it. I mean if I disagree with someone becuase I think they have body odor but they think they do not I am not going to go out and bath the. On second thought that example really sucked but I like the music in FIFA it is really different flavor then what you get in other games.

Not only has Beery smoked all the people flaming him, his posts are actually putting thoughtful discussion into the game itself. Not that i don't like the intro, but it's led onto something that i wouldn't mind altering, which is getting rid of the intro myself. Just because i dont like the loading time :D

What the f**k is wrong with you guys? Is there something wrong when somebody doesn't like anything in the game and wants to share his opinion with the others???
Just admit that EA has f**ked up a lot in FIFA 04!!! FIRST OF ALL, EVERYBODY HATES THAT UGLY MENU! The game has been released UNFINISHED!!!
There is plenty of other F**KED UP things the gamers can complain about in FIFA 2004 and this is the only way how EA can see what they've done wrong! Where else should we complain about stuff like this?!

The thing I find most interesting about the game's intro is that it seems much easier to dispense with the video than it is to get rid of the interminable sponsor ads that come before it. If I could delete everything so that it just went straight into the game menus I'd be a pretty happy camper.

Yup. Like I always say, no one ever helped a game system (or anything else for that matter) to improve by endlessly praising it and stifling criticism of it. If EA don't hear some critical assessments they'll get the idea that what they've produced (for example the menu system) is good enough, and they will be less likely to address these issues for the next version. I'd prefer the game system to improve over time and thus help to stimulate healthy competition (which must benefit all of us). It seems some others are satisfied to let EA's FIFA system stagnate.

Hehe, the tone of some of the trolling posts makes me wonder if the bureaucracy of the Soviet Union ever produced the sort of mindless squashing of freedom of thought, and blind support of the status quo that I'm seeing here. I fear the USSR must have missed out on a golden opportunity to hire super-loyal bureaucratic apparatchiks from western countries. If they had just had access to some of the folks here on this forum, well heck, the Soviet Union might still be around today. :)

Well english major, maybe if you read it again you'd see that im not calling you an idiot because you've wasted time, but because of your replies.

well done, once more.

Maybe if you'd bothered to correctly punctuate your message, English professor, that would have been clearer. :)

Since you can't even write a clear sentence in English, I fear your ability to spot idiocy in others might be in some serious doubt. In fact it suggests that your characterization of me might be more suitable as a self characterization.

If, in your topsy-turvy world, long and intricate forum posts make one an idiot, what characterization do you reserve for authors of novels and textbooks? Are these people morons? Or perhaps you're simply threatened by any post that holds a convincing argument, so you feel you must lash out against that.

I really enjoy finding anti-intellectuals like you on forums. Sadly, it's quite easy to find them, as anti-intellectualism seems quite popular. I guess it's like bigotry - it never goes out of style.

So keep on calling me an idiot, or stupid, or a moron. You're a perfect reverse barometer. When you start calling me intelligent, reasonable, or brilliant, that will be the time for me to worry.

That's quite ironical really, one might think that you were referring to the USA! However, the USA as a 'superpower' is still in the present tense, as it were... for now anyway...

God bless the... FIFA 2004! :/

Sadly most of those features are buggy or hard to find. So far I have yet to find the helicopter control options in the menus, and those who have found them say that the controllers often don't work in helicopter mode, and when they do work there's no way to turn the searchlights on.

Apart from that, it's a great simulation of helicopter searchlights being used to illuminate football games. I've never been to a soccer match where it was lit by helicopter searchlights, but I'm willing to bet that this game is just like the real thing.
