fifa 08 xbox 360 headers?

I'm an idiot, I can't figure out how to position and time a header. Any tips - I've played about 25 games....

I just try to get close to the ball then press either pass or shoot depending on the situation...

Headers are easy to attempt but a bit hard to pull of scoring. Just time the shoot button (. Of course, like everything in fifa 2008 it takes practice. Lots of it. This game is super cool.

I can't even do them on defense or long kicks, - forget about scoring

On freekicks, long kicks. etc. just move your player while hes selected. I manage headers all the time...then again that's after 30+ halves of playing. Stick with it and it's very rewarding! Amazingly rewarding. I even scored a diving header with Van Bommel believe it or not.

yes u can use cancel button to off the player from the rail and head the ball

You are not an idiot, its just that you are used to a different system of headers; the old system.

FIFA 08 on Xbox 360 (and PS3) introduces a new way of committing headers; to commit one simply follow these tips:

1. Whenever the ball is in mid-air, a yellow marker appears on the ground telling you where the ball should land. Let your player follow that marker, don't follow the ball, because you might not figure where it could fall due to camera position. (It happens when you watch football on TV, you think the ball is going away but it is actually coming close.)

2. When you want to commit a header, make your player run towards the yellow marker then chose the direction you want to hit the ball to, ONLY if you are on the yellow marker. Example: Let's say we are looking at the screen now, the ball is flying and the marker is above the player, you should make your player run up towards the yellow marker, you must keep holding the up button until he reaches the yellow spot, if he didn't reach the marker here comes the tricky part: if your player "has not" reached the yellow marker and you hit some other direction on your controller it is very likely that your player will miss the header! You must keep holding the direction towards the yellow marker even if the ball is going to head to the wrong side of where you want it to go.

3. This situation is "real-life", if you watch lots of football you can see how players hit the ball with their head to any direction if they were jumping outside of the area where the ball will land. In older football titles, this whole thing happens on its own, the computer decides where he wants the ball to go, but this year in FIFA 08, EA is making us gamers do that by our selves, and if we don't do it right we are going to miss the header, in which either the player will fully miss the header or the player will jump and also miss the header.

This might sound complicated, but trust me it is easy and fast to learn, and whenever you get the hang of it, you will definitely enjoy it and say: "Thanks EA for honoring my playing style and trusting on me to commit headers the way I like". seriously

i score plenty of goals and (and on target) headers on Ps3 Demo.

1 trick is to wait till the ball is about to hit your head before you press the shoot button. also your body has to be in a good position of where the ball is going toward ur head. for example if your player has to jump and can barely get the header off it will be weak. the pass has to be a godo one to do a good header. also make sure sure you aim your header logically. like if your palyer is position facing mostly toward the left post aim the ehader for that post or middle. if he facing right side of net mostly aim it for right side or middle.

dont EVER try to head the ball to the opposite side of where your player is facing. it will be very innaccurate. and not that powerful/ overall not good.

this should help hopefully i said it in the way that you can understand it.

im a master of headers in the game and in real life ive scored many many goals (or really good headers on target) in real life and in the game.

so good luck also practice them.

I'm practicing - very challenging - one thing that is difficult is that getting the player to respond quick enough to get near the yellow x is hard for me - do u guys hit any of the trigger button when josteling for the ball like in PES
