fifa 08 multiplayer(direct ip)

i am having a problem with this multiplayer in direct ip

i want to play with my friend,so he gave his ip adress and i gave him mine

but when i try to connect it says connection attempt failed

i dont know what to do,tried several ways allowing firewalls

typing ipconfig in run cmd to know actual ip adress but non eof them works

so pleazzzzzzzzz tell me a way and a procedure to figure out this problem

You give him your IP, he selects it from the game. You host, he connects, that's all. IF you are behind a router, you should open a port in the router menu.

what is that i am behind a router,i have a modem connection

what should i do to open the port and where is the router menu

in dip i hav typed my name then my ip address[client ip and also tried the server ip,which one do i need to type?].it says connection attempt falied.someone plz do reply.and if anyone can post some screenshots of the game how he connected that would be great!

its not the game its his/your firewall/router setup thats the problem. I can only suggest you look up some tutorials for your make of router. As I doubt many will be willing to run u thru port forwarding.
