Where do you find the development curve for players on your team?
Once you've started a career there is no way to find development curve information from within manager mode, but for players that are assigned to teams at the start of a career you can use Team Management > Edit Player and scroll down to the bottom of the supporting attributes list where you will find Player Growth.

The alternative is to use a third-party tool that reveals that information, which at the moment limits you to DB Master, UniDB and any other database level editor that has been updated for (or already worked with) FIFA 08. My own EAFFAnalyser includes that information in the CSV output but the FIFA 08 version is still in beta testing.

it seems that each league has a hidden rating, because as you search lower leagues, players overall stats drop and hence prices drop
Whilst leagues do have a prestige level, just as teams do, that you cannot see, I don't believe that that factors into transfers. The reason that player's overall ratings drop in lower leagues is simply that the players aren't as good - a player with identical primary attribute values at Man U to a player at Dagenham & Redbridge will have the same overall rating. The reason that their value drops is that team prestige factors into the player value calculation.

i searched for and bought fabregas and van persie for a combined $21M. (11M and 10M) When i bought them they're overalls rose by about 8-10 each, and values went to a combined $45M
This has nothing to do with the teams or leagues involved - the same would happen if you signed those players to Accrington Stanley - but is a side effect of the match XP system. Any player signed to the manager's team gets a boost to their potential of between one and nine points (theoretically between zero and fifteen, but my observations indicate that the actual increase is between the learningspeed value and four more than that value) so if they are currently constrained by their potential then their individual attributes (and therefore their overall) will increase by up to the increase in potential.

Van Persie is definitely limited by his potential after the first season, and his potential gets boosted by seven points (I just happen to have somebody else's Arsenal career details as one of my test beds), whilst Fabregas will be capped after five seasons at 89, but he gets a boost of nine points and can then grow to 96 (yes, I know that theoretically it should be 98, but you'd only get him that high via match XP attribute boosts because of the way that physical attributes are developed along a different growth curve to skill/mental attributes)

I found 3 that could probably help my squad out eventually(Victor Moses, Breno, Brayan Angulu) Only time will tell though.
I won't spoil your fun but I reckon you've got one that will grow into a superstar (ie. 85 or better overall), one solid journeyman (high 70s) and one relative bust (less than 70)

Thanks Steve, appreciated. I'm playing on 360 so mucking about with database tools though is probably not an option for me. Good to know that you can find the development curves at least...

Actually it doesn't seem to exist on the 360 version. When I go into team management>edit player, there's no category called supporting attributes.
All there is are attacking, defending, skills, power, movement, mentality, goalkeeping and traits.
I've looked in every category and doesn't sem to find it. There is one thing called curve in the skill category that could be it, but I don't know. Piqué for instance has 50 out of a possible 100 on this curve which seems a little bit low if that is supposed to visualize his future. Looks like we 360-user's been shafted just like with the "Be a Pro".

It is quite possible that player development works completely differently on the 360/PS3 version of the game, so I'm afraid my knowledge of the PC version isn't going to help you much :(

However, the reason that I don't wrap my posts in caveats to that effect is that there is a separate forum for the 360/PS3 version of the game, so I tend to assume that it will be PS2/PC users here

SC sXe, the curve attribute is a players ability to curve the ball when he takes free kicks, a player with a high rating such as 90/100 can curve it much more then a player such as Pique, who only has 50/100........you can test this in the arena.

some good youngs that haven't been mentioned yet:

- giles barnes/derby county/73 to 90 in 4 seasons
- nasri / marseille / 94 after 5 seasons

Why do you need someone to tell you what are the best young players, just start the manager mode go to transfers search for players with a minimum 60 or 65 overall and a maximum of 99 and sort them by age, from the youngest to the oldest, then just write down the names of the players that cost the most in accordance to their overall - these are the ones that have massive growth

Example : Ever Banega (River Plate has 70 overall but is worth somewhere about 1.5 mil, when some other players that have 70 rating don't cost that much because they don't grow so high.

Rakitic from Shalke also has somewhere around 75(maybe 74?) in the beginning but costs almost 6 mil, he goes to 98/99 really fast

Have in mind that players position also determines their value, so a good defender would cost less than an equally good attacker.

Hope this helps.
Also i think that having a goal of having a 99 overall team is excessive and i consider players that have a rating of 80 to 85 best because frankly if Torres (86) isn't good for you - there's something wrong with you!:)

One other caveat to this approach is that team prestige also plays into player value, so the same player will command a higher value when on the Man U squad compared to Dagenham & Redbridge.

You're right, i didn't notice that but now that you have said it i remember
Ever Banega having higher value in AC MILAN than in inter:)

Stuff

I am in the 5th season, and so far these ratings are ratings i think their limit will be, and also what they are at this point, this is good info because i scout like crazy and and try to look for the best players. When scouting players make sure that most of all your staff upgrades are 9/10. Because when you scout players, some you might see an average rating limit in the growth curve but when you bring them on your team and your staff upgrades levels are good, they get better by 2-3 ratings on their limit. I will state a list of the scouted players after i state a list of the young best players.

All these players are 88 and above. Also every one of them were 23 years old or younger when you first start manager mode, but MOST are much younger.

Here are the scouted players, i can't really remember the years i got them from, but be grateful. Not sure about their limit but they are all over 86. My team is Chelsea and I think there are some players in some areas that are not in others when scouted. My brother uses AC Milan and got some scouted players i didn't have and I searched for them and couldn't find them. There are only 2 players that I couldn't find: Grandet CF and Rindler ST, and there are some players on mine that my brother can't find. We are both in the 5th season so it must be area or the fact that he has a PSP and mine a PS2 and they could be different.
