Fergusen fights board for Ronaldo

he'll leave, I'm positive of it... in the past month alone I've read about interest from several clubs, including Real Madrid and Valencia. He'd be stupid to stay where he's disliked, regardless of the reasons why.

btw, if (when) this thread turns into a pointless flamewar, it'll be closed and cards handed out. All part of a new no-tolerance policy. Thanks for your co-operation.

I hate Ronaldo. But it's a shame that he's being forced out of Man Utd. He's a really, really good player when he's clicking on all cylinders.

I couldn't help but feel sorry for him after what van Nistelrooy said to him last year.

Let him go. Some ppl need to get a perspective and realize that football is just a game. I have been reading articles that the Manchester police is fearing for his safety. Just let him go.

Shameful.

He was the heart and soul of their 4-2 win over Arsenal, and now they treat him like a dog.

Along with Rooney, he's the only reason why I sit through Manu games.......honestly. I use to click off their matches as soon as he was subbed off when he first got to the EPL.

How much do you guys think his worth is? I'd tag 'em at 20million euros and no more than that.

They should let him go... he doesn't belong there.. Imo he doesn't belond to english football at all.. probably getting his ass kicked 24/7

Yes i think 20 million is a fair assessment. I also regret it. I was expecting him to develop a steady career in Manchester. He should be grateful for the chance they gave him and for all the protection and guidance that Ferguson gave him. Too bad this happened. Perhaps the departure is the best solution for both parties but it´s a damm shame.

He can't win any more though. If he stays he will get stick all over the country. If he leaves he will be branded a quitter with no cojones.

I love him. I hope he leaves man utd. His way of playing does'nt fit the premier league. I think he would fit well in spain.

Of course he will. By the english of course. Anyone with some common sense would understand that it´s dangerous for him to remain there with all the obsessive levels english ppl are hating on him. Manchester police being worried about his safety is a mere technicality. You would definitely stay and prove that you have "cojones"

i think cristiano will do better in spain anyway, just like ronaldinho wouldnt be the same in the EPL as he would just get crunched, Ronaldo would achieve alot more in spain.

Btw is it me or is ferguson spelt wrong

All the fuss and hysteria will die down eventually. Last season I saw Drogba and Robben abused by the crowds wherever we played away from home, (and indeed AT home by visiting fans AND home fans), It is upsetting for the players involved to be sure, but those 2 guys cleaned up their acts somewhat and the levels of booing declined as the season wore on. Mind you, after the season was over, Drogba and Robben said they were so hurt by the accusations and constant abuse that they wanted to leave the EPL.

TO a certain degree, Drogba and Robben bought a lot of the critisism upon themselves for their constant theatrics during games. I think (and this is said without wanting an argument) Ronaldo has given to himself, the same accusations as Drogba and Robben. This reputation has not just appeared from this World Cup though. Ronaldo has been "simulating" for many seasons now for Man U.

He is a fantastic footballer, that we all know. His skills and determination can be breathtaking to watch at times. The problem is this, It does not matter how skillful a player might be or how wonderful he is to watch, in the EPL, as soon as he is labelled a diver he will get abuse from everywhere. This attention is not reserved for non- English players only of course. Joe Cole had to put up with the same stuff for over 2 seasons.

As a Chelsea fan, I despise any of our players cheating or diving. They are an embarrassment and bring shame to my club. Just as any England player doing it would, and do, bring shame on my National Team.

Most teams in the EPL have a diver thats for sure, but its just something that is not tolerated in the UK, not by the fans or indeed the :-puke: media.

Ronaldo can ride this out. The heat will die down and the dust will settle. His skills ARE appreciated in the EPL, he is a wonderful player for sure. If he can possibly drop the ugly side of his game, he will win over the critics and we will be left to admire Ronaldo the craftsman. Believe me, the crap will die down.

I would not blame him if he wanted to move away from England though. That would be the easy way out i suppose.

Good post Pede, personally I think he should stay.
After Beckham got sent off against Argentina in France '98, everyone hated him, fans chanted songs about him and he had effigys of him being hung.
A few months later it all disappeared and everything was back to normal.
This situation is fairly similar so I think he should stay, just maybe try and lessen the play-acting.
Once thats gone the only thing the EPL fans will concentrating on is Ronaldos sublime skill.

Ronaldo's young, and IMO not always very bright. I like and appreciate him as a player but I think going to England has both helped and stunted his career in certain ways. I think he was an awful diver when he first left Portugal and went to Man Utd (a lot of players get that habit playing in Portugal, thanks to terrible refs who call anything a foul), but he's improved a lot in that sense thanks to Ferguson. In another way though, he gets a bad attitude now and then which I think comes from getting a superstar status too soon in the EPL...even before the WC during the warm-up games his behaviour was appaulling. Not diving, but being too individualistic, making nasty retaliation fouls, taking unecessary cards, etc.

I agree, the hate will probably will die down eventually...remember Aldo Duscher, the most hated man in England years ago, now I'm willing to bet a lot of people even forgot about him. I wouldn't mind seeing Ronaldo go to Spain or France though, if for no other reason then just to see what turn his career takes from there..
