Good game, Falcão really is amazing, and I pray that Varela doesn't get injured this season... But the defence still needs much improvement. Like never playing Sapunaru.

man oh man, what a game

Fili I thought we were very good overall, defense obviously included. Of course Fucile is a definite improvement over Sapu or Lopes but this is just the start of the season and if they are the only ones left we must assume they will improve and eventually help us "forget" about Jorge.

The whole team did extremely well but I have to chose Varela and Bellu as the best in this game.

AVB having a dream start in official games as Porto coach, hopefully he keeps us at this level throughout the coming season.

First league game, first 3 points of the season and not much else to say.
The team wasn't great, far from it, especially in the first half. But AVB managed to turn things around in the second with a few tactical adjustments and we eventually started to create some good chances and were fortunate to get that late (and clear) penalty and score.

Belluschi needs to work hard on his passing efficiency, the skill is all there but we can't afford to have him missing 50% of his through-ball attempts...I'm sure he'll pick his game up soon though.


Thursday we play Genk for the Europa League playoffs, will not be an easy task but I'm confident we'll bring a good result home.

I don't like Belluschi very much, hopefully Moutinho Micael can prove to be an efficient starting partnership... Unless Meireles stays, what's the dealyo with that anyway?

The problem with Belluschi is his inconsistence, he can have a massive game like the one at the Supercup and then fail miserably in the next.
In my book Fernando, Moutinho and Micael are starters hands down given that they are fully fit and in form.
I'm not counting with Meireles anymore...it's a matter of time before he leaves, even if it happens in the last day of the transfer window a la Cigano.
At most we have to put up with this uncertainty for 2 more weeks anyway, the soap opera is soon to be over...and don't even get me started on the Kleber crap

seems like we are through to the group stages
good game, we didn't have to be amazing to beat them tbh...absolute crackers by Souza and Bellu in the goals though.

can't wait till Sunday to enjoy our first home match of the new season...the mere thought about getting back into our magnificent Dragão honestly gives me the chills..!

Nicolas Otamendí is already speaking as a Porto player, I guess it's a matter of details for him to definitely join the team.
Good move for us, we did need a 4th CB and Ota is a different player comparing with the options we have in the squad.
Plus he's not a gamble since we all know him from the World Cup (not that he did great there, but Maradona played him out of position) and I've had the chance to watch him prior to it at Vélez...he's fast, incisive and has a great sense of anticipation, only thing he misses is being a few inches taller which shouldn't be an issue considering his impulsion.
So all in all, I think this is a great decision from AVB and the board even if he's gonna be pricey.


And tomorrow, we'll be hosting Beira-Mar. Dá-lhe Porto!

another great weekend for us,with the 3-0 home win over Beira-Mar we are now 2 points clear off Braga, 3 off Sporting and 6 off Benfica !

dispite going to to HT 2-0 ahead I have to say our first-half performance was far from brilliant. The Ukra injury after 2 minutes didn't help since we and had to change our system a bit early on since we had no wingers in the bench and had to stretch Belluschi to the right...great goals anyway, Falcao and Bellu are on fire

I simply loved our second half though, once Varela came off for Micael our midfield turned into an absolute machine, a carousel of beautiful football all-round. this 4-5-1 is a very interesting option and has to be seriously taken into account in the future since it appears to splendidly suit our midfielders.


overall a great night at the Dragão, I was really missing the thrill

50% for €4M, I don't know if AVB intends to bench Maicon or Rolando once Ota gets fit enough to play, it's gonna be a complicated decision for the coach...I am not sure what I'd do either

I'll be there tomorrow, first live game of the season for me, last one I went to was pretty good ("pretty good" meaning 5-1 against Braga ), so I'm hoping for another great game

nice as usual I'll be there too, and yeah hopefully it's a good match although there's not much at stake considering the advantage we brought from Belgium...will be useful to rotate the squad a bit.

A bit too damn shaky in defense but in the end, business as usual...
Hulk got his first hat-trick for Porto (and still managed to miss a penalty) and Fernando was absolutely everywhere tonight. No wonder his nickname is Polvo (octopus)
