Well, it's official: we missed out on a player who I regard as one of the more prolific strikers in Europe:
Basicly says we can't cough up the 2 extra million to reach their demand of 6M. PDC also said that if money wouldn't be a problem he would also try to get Deco and Carvalho back but he doesn't want to buy a player that will cause a debt for the club. There's also the confirmation that VoH was a personal choice of CoA.
They conclude by saying that VoH can become the 14th player in the history of PSV to reach the 100-goal mark now that he stays, after having scored 86 goals in 5 seasons (212 games).

FC Porto ziet af van Vennegoor
PORTO - FC Porto ziet af van verdere pogingen om PSV-aanvaller Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink naar Portugal te halen.
Volgens de voorzitter van de club, João Pinto Da Costa, kan en wil de landskampioen de transfersom voor de lange Oranje-international niet betalen. Naar verluidt verlangt PSV zo’n zes miljoen euro voor Vennegoor.
,,Als geld geen probleem geweest was, hadden we Deco of Ricardo Carvalho wel gehaald,’’ sprak Pinto da Costa in de Portugese krant O’Jogo. ,,De trainer wil Vennegoor of Hesselink graag hebben, maar momenteel acht ik de kans klein dat hij ook daadwerkelijk komt. We willen ons niet te diep in de schulden steken voor één speler.’’
Vennegoor of Hesselink heeft in Eindhoven nog een contract tot medio 2008. Hij kwam in vijf seizoenen PSV tot 86 doelpunten in 212 officiële wedstrijden. Nu de transfer naar FC Porto van de baan kan de spits komend seizoen toetreden tot een illuster gezelschap. Hij kan als veertiende speler in de PSV-historie de grens van honderd officiële doelpunten bereiken.
