Well, it's official: we missed out on a player who I regard as one of the more prolific strikers in Europe:

PORTO - FC Porto ziet af van verdere pogingen om PSV-aanvaller Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink naar Portugal te halen.
Volgens de voorzitter van de club, João Pinto Da Costa, kan en wil de landskampioen de transfersom voor de lange Oranje-international niet betalen. Naar verluidt verlangt PSV zo’n zes miljoen euro voor Vennegoor.

,,Als geld geen probleem geweest was, hadden we Deco of Ricardo Carvalho wel gehaald,’’ sprak Pinto da Costa in de Portugese krant O’Jogo. ,,De trainer wil Vennegoor of Hesselink graag hebben, maar momenteel acht ik de kans klein dat hij ook daadwerkelijk komt. We willen ons niet te diep in de schulden steken voor één speler.’’

Vennegoor of Hesselink heeft in Eindhoven nog een contract tot medio 2008. Hij kwam in vijf seizoenen PSV tot 86 doelpunten in 212 officiële wedstrijden. Nu de transfer naar FC Porto van de baan kan de spits komend seizoen toetreden tot een illuster gezelschap. Hij kan als veertiende speler in de PSV-historie de grens van honderd officiële doelpunten bereiken.

Basicly says we can't cough up the 2 extra million to reach their demand of 6M. PDC also said that if money wouldn't be a problem he would also try to get Deco and Carvalho back but he doesn't want to buy a player that will cause a debt for the club. There's also the confirmation that VoH was a personal choice of CoA.
They conclude by saying that VoH can become the 14th player in the history of PSV to reach the 100-goal mark now that he stays, after having scored 86 goals in 5 seasons (212 games).

You can forget about Charisteas, he will not only be more worth then that nobody VoH but he said in an interview this week that he won't leave Ajax and he is 100% sure about that. He wants to compete with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (our nr 1 striker) and Markus Rosenberg for a spot in the selection with our new coach Henk ten Cate. He doesn't care if he needs to sit on the bench either he is NOT leaving Ajax (his words)
He scored already 8 goals for us in friendly games this week

hey Charisteas was just an idea that came to my mind as I consider him to be a good striker and Co is searching players through the Dutch football market, there aren't even any rumours of a Porto interest in him.

about the good strikers in Portugal issue, lets just say that the good ones are already taken by the best teams.
still, there aren't many good options unfortunately.

well as an Ajax fan you should be happy if he was to remain at PSV given that he sucks as much as you say.
either way if he doesn't come to Porto he'll most probably leave Holland anyway, I read Porto are not the only team interested.

Arveladze gave an interview to oJogo to mainly talk about Tarik, and he left a hint to Co:
Kluivert is free.

ok he's 30 now, but for me it actually wouldn't be a bad move at all considering that I've always loved to see him play.
I really hope Co gets to read the interview and takes that possibility into account

good news if you ask me, I prefer to keep his lazy yet talented ass with us for another season rather than sell him now for a miserable fee.
who knows, maybe he has a good season and justifies an extension to his contract

heh, on another note we beat Cerveira 17-0 in our first pre-season match.

speaking of releases, there are 2 players (in case no one else arrives of course) left to let go.
we currently have 27 players in the squad (counting Lucho and R.Costa who are yet to return), Co wants 25 max.
my choices would be Bruno Alves and maybe Bruno Moraes.
even if Moraes hasn't had a chance to prove himself yet, the thing is that I really want us to keep Vieirinha.
Bruno Alves simply sucks.

Co Adriaanse parece estar em boa forma. Polidez no discurso em inglês, expressões lusófonas pelo meio e elogios, muitos elogios para os que trabalham a seu lado. Os novos «recrutas» do «batalhão», por exemplo, foram brindados com palavras agradáveis mas que acarretam um elevar de responsabilidades. Ezequias foi o primeiro alvo das mordomias sintácticas de Co Adriaanse.

«Gostei muito da actuação do Ezequias no jogo de hoje. Tem a possibilidade de actuar na esquerda e no meio, tanto na defesa como no meio-campo e é um jogador que me tem agradado nesta primeira semana.» Sem dar espaço a perguntas e a um ritmo constante, Co Adriaanse desfilou pelos nomes dos vários reforços, como que antecipando toda e qualquer dúvida dos jornalistas presentes na sala de imprensa do Olival.

«O João Paulo também se encontra já a um bom nível. É competente na defesa e no meio-campo defensivo. Estou surpreso é com o talento do Vieirinha. É um jovem com uma habilidade natural fantástica e que me tem entusiasmado», prosseguiu, antes de passar para Diogo Valente e Tarik Sektioui, os últimos da lista. «O Diogo vem resolver uma lacuna que tínhamos, relativamente ao número de esquerdinos. Co Adriaanse fez questão de deixar também breves considerações a outro reforço. Chris Kronshorst, o mais recente integrante da equipa técnico, chegado na passada quinta-feira da Holanda. «O Chris é um especialista no desenvolvimento técnico dos jogadores e acho que podemos beneficiar muito com a sua vinda. É um velho conhecido e um homem com um passado importante.»

He really seems to like Vieirinha so I'm putting a bet on Alves and Moraes (*sigh*/expect a lot from the lad but that injury ruined it for him)

On a sidenote:
I'm glad my trust in the buy of Ezequias is warranted by this article. I believe he's an investment for the future and probably one of the most genius things the SAD has ever done.

Tajike I read that too, that Co was impressed by Vieirinha and Ezequias.
the thing is that we have so many wingers now, and I fear that even if Co is impressed he decides to loan Vieirinha in order to get him more experience.
Ezequias as I said before can be very useful because of his versatility, he also has great speed and good technique, but he is yet to show what he can do in a bigger team. he has my trust though

the goalscorers of the 17-0 were not announced, it seems like the press somehow found out about those you've mentioned but nothing else.
given that, you can already see the Record forums flooded with f'cktards claiming that the result is false :funny:

both Dutch goals were scored by Nevland, Adriano and Bosingwa for Porto.


first of all, f'ck Bruno Alves.
what a crap excuse for a football player. I still can't understand how he's even in the squad, man

overall we had an average game.
good game by Bosingwa mainly in the first half, giving a great contribution offensively. in the second half he was more careless, but still managed to have a few good runs forward and grab that late equalizer with a very good play.
Pepe was solid as always

Meireles had a great game in the midfield, Assunção was his great usual self, plus Anderson got in the match with loads of will and managed to improve our offensive plays especially through the middle.

in the attack I liked Vierinha a lot, really hope Co decides to keep him.
Tarik was no more than average, but it was easy to see that he can be very useful once he gets a good physical condition.


we had more possession, attacked more, but failed to score as much as we should...again

Groningen's first goal was so damn lucky, Nevland scores after benefiting of two consecutive rebounds , in his second goal I ask: where the f'ck was our defense?

there's still a lot of work for Co to do, mainly tuning up that defensive line.

can't say I'm satisfied with the team, but the truth is there's still a long way to go before the season actually starts so Co will have enough time to improve our game.
