Bruno Alves is priceless... Instead of marking Marcel, he was marking Maciel, along with Pepe, lefting Marcel alone to score easily.

actually it was Ezequias there and not Pepe, but i agree, one of them should be marking Marcel. but it just shows the quality (lack of..) of those two players...

and Bruno Alves made another blunder in the second goal. he just stood there in his position watching Luis Filipe runing torwards him, and shooting. Bruno Alves wasn't marking anyone, while Ezequias, Pepe and Raul Meireles had someone to mark so they couldn't leave their positions...

and that miss by Lucho, i compare that to the "frangos" the keepers concede once in a while, it's just not acceptable at this level :kader:

I agree about Marcel - a decent player but not really suited to the way braga are playing at the moment.
wow, a Millwall fan knowing who the f'ck Marcel is? interesting :brow:

dudes, Anderson won't play against Sporting because of last night's injury :(

now I just hope Jesualdo doesn't chose Jorginho to be his replacement, I know the man scored our title winner last season precisely in Alvalade and all, but he still sucks.

We dont have a decent replacement, after u see what Anderson can do no one seems good to the place!

He may put Jorginho on that place like u say, but i think he will make a slight change! This is a game against Sporting, the runner up, they play at home and r higly motivated despite CL loss to Bayern, maybe we can take profit if they present a bit more tired. But as a was saying Jesulado may present a different team. We may put Paulo Assunçao Back to his place, and move Meireles and Jesulaod a bit further, so they assume the attack a bit more! Another question is if he'll forgive Bosingwa or keeps Fucile as RB, the rest stays the same. Quaresma made a better game agaisnt Hamburg, both Postiga and Lisandro are motivated, the major problem is a CB to help Pepe since Bruno Alves is pitfull! This isnt exactly a 4-3-3, it's also kinda of a 4-4-2 since it settles on the forwards movements, like Quaresma changing both sides and Lisandro appearing in midle also.

Something like

---------------Postiga----------------
-Lisandro-------------------Quaresma-
--------------------------------------
-----Meireles-----------Lucho---------
-------------P.Assunção--------------
--------------------------------------
Cech------B.Alves-----Pepe------Fucile
--------------------------------------
----------------Helton----------------

I mentioned Jorginho because he was Jesualdo's choice to replace Anderson in yesterday's match, but obviously don't want him to play either.

the formation you posted is completely spot on, Paulo Assunção will be very important working hard as always in the midfield.
Meireles playing a bit more up front will also give his long shots a few more chances to happen too (Y)

I still think Quaresma holds the ball too damn long, and keeps it to himself more than he should.
he needs to simplify his game in order to make less mistakes...I mean he has his great moments but still he is way too inconstant, not that I'm saying he shouldn't start though, I mean he can turn a match around in a blink of an eye.

Bruno Alves has been pretty solid lately, but I still hope João Paulo takes his place once he's fully fit.

btw Bosingwa won't join the team until next Monday for what I've read, so Fucile is likely to start.
and he should, given what he showed against Hamburg. quality player he seems to be (Y)

Diego was a hyped player that'll never be more than a Roger. I'm sure he'll do fine in Brazil, once he gets shipped back at the end of next season.
His problem is: he's slow; pretty decent technically but not anywhere near a level that allows him to dribble past other midfielders or defenders (unlike Deco); he doesn't control the flow of the game. Now these are all things that you can't be taught. You either have it or you don't, and Diego hasn't. The recipe for disaster.
On top of that, he's poor tactically and has a father with a big mouth. Finally, he spent the last 2 years - the crucial years for the development of a young player - benched, and rightly so, btw.

I hope we get good money for this kid.

infesta, do you still think diego is overhyped?

there are a lot of more great actions from diego...

5 goals and 8 assists so far...

I personally always liked him.
maybe a bit slow on the aspect of taking too much time too decide what to do with the ball sometimes, but on a good day he can be a real menace for opposition.

too bad Co didn't find a place for him in the team, I'm sure Jesualdo would love to still have Diego available, especially now that Anderson got injured and we only have Jorginho as a pure nº 10 :nape:

I do. He's having an impressive start of the season - you can't deny that.
But I've seen him play live here many times, and he also pleased the crowd in the beginning. But that worn out as the season went along and the opponents figured him out.

If I were you, I would have waited for the end of the season to make that post. Come to think of it, that's exactly what I'm going to do. Be sure to check here in the end of the season and we'll discuss Diego's performances in the Bundesliga. ;)

Diego is in a perfect environment right now. He can play the #10 in an attacking minded team and doesn't need to worry about defending one bit as physically strong players like Frings and Borowski are playing next to him.

He dominated the midfield against Barcelona and Bayern. I really couldn't recognize him being slow or not being able to control the flow of the game.

I'd break the bank to have him on my team.

Doesn't need to worry about defending one bit? That sure sounds like modern day football, uh? (Unless, of course, you play for R. Madrid.)
If that's true, I wonder how it will hurt WB this season. Other teams will soon enough realize it and take advantage. Like I said, the Port. Liga teams took half a season to figure out how to cripple Diego, and he's been useless ever since.
