I hear you, zuppa, and your concerns are my concerns. All these names coming in and out of the club have to do with 2 things: the money we got from 2 very successful seasons and, as you mentioned, the deals with 'empresários'. Some people can't have too much money on their pockets, and PdC seems to be one of them. He already showed us that in the past, then last year, and now again. He did to our team what Benfica did to their championship winning team back in 94 - dismantled it completely. The only names that still stand are Jorge Costa and Vítor Baía. Why? Well, obviously bcs they're old, otherwise I'm sure they too would have been shipped to Russia!

I seem to be more optimistic with Co, though. He's said to be an organizer and a discipline-enforcer - 2 things we were short of this past season. All he has to do is make the players believe in him; make them believe that if everyone follows his path with his rules they'll achieve success; in other words, a leader. If he is one, we might survive the constant errors our SAD has been making in these past 2 years.

I know we should advertise olther sites, but this is a very nice one with useful information and opinions about FCPorto future players, mainly B team ones!

I found that Porto has just signed with a Luso-canadian youngster, captain of the Canadian U17 NT named Michael Pereira.

Here's part of the text if u r to lazy to visit it!

"Another Londoner heading to a soccer-crazy country shortly is Michael Pereira. The 16-year-old phenom, who plays with Canada's under-17 team, has signed a contract with 2004 Portuguese champion FC Porto's development team. He leaves for Portugal at the end of July for "a new life." Pereira was courted by some big-time soccer clubs, including Newcastle and Sporting, and chose Porto because he has relatives nearby. The player, who speaks Portuguese, also liked the package the team offered. That includes $700 a month as well as expenses, and enrolment in a private international school."

Seems to be an interesting site m8 ;)

A promising kid coming to Porto, and he's not Brazilian. Good stuff :jap:

Btw this Anderson...has any of you ever seen him play on any of those 20 matches for Gremio?
People and newspapers say wonders about him, but I don't even have a clue.
Young blood at least, keep them coming :rockman:

Adriaanse is supposed to be good at evaluating and developing young players mainly because of his work at Ajax, and I'm pretty confident he'll keep it up at Porto.
It'd be beautiful (although unlikely) to have an average age of at most 22 on the team, and still get good performances and results out of it.

I'm kind of anxious to see the squad Co will chose to start the season....
anyway....

....Summerrrrrrrrr Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime :sun:

Nuno Espirito Santo, another one to Dinamo Moscow.

Did you know that in 2004, FC Porto payed more money to him than to Vitor Baía?

Looks like ANDERSON is set to sign with us.

This is an interesting opinion I collected in the Record forums:

Don't agree with everything, but one wonders how much Porto benefited with the relationship with this Mendes dude...

Rumours r the greatest thing on this period... but some say that a "european star" is arriving to Dragão, if he's good ok, but i wanna see waht will Co Ad. do with such a numerous squad!

In my opinion we still need 1 or 2 RB's and a DM (trinco)!

Parasol

you got Lucho and Meireles for the DM position so do you really think you still need a DM? And probably Quaresma goes to the defense just to fit all the stars in the starting 11 lol

None of them is trully a DM, they can play like that but i'm talking about "trincos", Costinha style see?

And dont worry we wont need to put the magic gipsy on the RB!

sure you don't, you have that special place for him on the bench :p

You know what, that gives me chills. :(
Somehow I see another overpriced ''star'' arriving to take a nice holiday in sunny Portugal. That's the opposite of what Mourinho defended - young talented players with everything to prove.

Anyway: Lucho, Diego, Meireles, Anderson, Leo Lima, Leandro do Bonfim, etc... too much cats for one craddle, imho. Our planning has been total **** for the second year in a row.

K, it's prolly going to be a forward (as BenniMac is kinda sure to leave), he is a European "estrela" and has Portuguese experience...
Why am I scared it's going to be Pauleta? :(

PAULETA!? PAULETA!? PAULETA!?

FODA-SE! Nem a brincar! :f***:

If he joins us, here's FCP's probable line-up up front:

RM: Quaresma
AM: Lucho
LM: Diego
F: :sb9:

But seriously, it won't be Pauleta. It CAN'T be Pauleta. And he doesn't have Superliga experience. And to call it 'portuguese experience' to someone who's portuguese is a bit akward, to say the least, so no, it's not him.

hope it isn't Pauleta!! it would be 1 million times better to keep Fabiano instead!! :kader:

i'm not liking all this signings, we used to sign few players, and we used to keep the "kernel" of the squad from one season to the other (ok, there were one or two changes..). last season and this season we have signed so many new players that it gets really hard to keep track of them all! we are looking like Benfica was a few years ago, and i'm not liking it...

lastest rumour: Cicinho told the press that he is in negotiations with FC Porto...[sarcasm]now we only need some female brazilians, and next Carnaval Porto can have it's own car in Rio's sambódromo :lui: [/sarcasm]

Mourinho was an assistant manager of Bobby Robson and Louis Van Gaal winning some things before getting to porto, if you don't remember how he started.

I thought Mourinho was merely a translator for those managers. They made the decisions, not Mourinho.

Anyway Adriaanse hasn't won any major prizes so far, true. But he has helped mid-table club Willem II Tilburg reach the CL, and he has helped sub-top club AZ Alkmaar reach the the UEFA cup semi-final, and breaking the reign of the the traditional three dutch topclubs Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV.

but when he went to a top club like ajax guess what happened to him? :ewan:

also i don't think it is Adriaanse who is choosing the players to buy, either that or he is buying them by tape, because porto signed some players before he was even signed and now they keep buying brazilians, that i doubt he has ever heard anything from them. keep on wasting your millions, porto :lui:

God, him too? :nape:
I haven't been the least impressed with his 2 performances in the Confederations Cup. I'm sure they're asking millions for his pass.

Mourinho was just a translator when Robson came to Portugal for Sporting. When Mourinho worked with Robson in Porto/Barcelona and with Van Gaal, he had other kind of competencies. It´s obvious that he wasn´t just a translator and the fact that both Robson and Van Gaal aren´t surprised with his success and vouch for his capabilities proves that. In Robson´s case it was obvious that Mourinho was the number two in his coaching staff.

Btw i heard on Jornal da Tarde that Porto has 12 brazilians. Why not change the name for Clube Esporte do Porto? Im so sad to see this in a club like Porto that has my utmost respect. Specially when there are players like Vierinha, Márcio Sousa or Bruno Gama waiting for a chance. Porto used to be one of the pilars of our National team. At this rate it´s more probable to see Carlos Alberto Parreira at the Dragão watching players than Scolari himself.
