if messi and barca do what they did against arsenal then inter stand no chance

Well to be fair Inter's defence is miles better then Arsenal's. It will be difficult for Barca, but there's always a chance. Unlucky for Barca, Inter showed that this Barca side is very weak (if you get past the pressure from midfield) when counter-attacked. One goal from Inter and it's almost game over....

Yeah, Barcelona's defense was comical. Alves is a bit of a sham defensively, and so is Maxwell to a certain extent, and Inter exploited the space behind Alves and Maxwell with long balls on the counter attack. It worked brilliantly.

Whole team were weak, not only the defense. If Barça plays at his full level doesn't matter if inter defense with 11 mans in the box (they won't, i guess they will try to stop the match all the time) we will make it.

I know its gonna be hard but I have a feeling Barca will go through... Remember they have 1 away goal. 2-0 for Barca at Nou Camp is not impossible at all. Its 50-50 for me now.

and lol at all posts sayin Mourinho taught a lesson to Pep. What about Pep teaching him a lesson some months ago where Inter couldn't do 2 consecutive passes.

They give all the credits to a coach whose team won because opponent's mistakes in the defense ... Well done!
I said this in the Champions League thread, and I'll repeat it here: in the Group Stages, Pandev was not an Inter player, and the entire attacking side of the team was still trying to gel into their new squad, while their new centre back was getting acclimatized too ...

I mean, look at the Inter starting XI from yesterday: on the defensive side of things, Lucio and Motta are in their first season; and on the attacking side of things, they are all brand new: Sneijder, Eto'o, and Milito joined last summer, and Pandev only joined in January ... that is more than half the team comprised of new players! plus, it was the Pandev purchase that has allowed Mourinho to make a more attacking formation out of the squad he has, playing a 4-2-1-3 / 4-2-3-1 ... and it is working quite well, especially against the big teams ...

all things considered, it is no surprise that it is only in the second half of the season that Inter have found another gear in Europe ...

EDIT: just realized that I didn't comment on the "opponent's mistake" part of your post ... yes, there were defensive lapses, and yes, we were totally off-colour last night, but did you forget that Pedro's goal assisted by Maxwell only happened because of Maicon's colossal "mistake"?

well, I was definitely one of the people who said that; in fact, I think I was the only one who used those words ...

and yeah, José did teach Pep a lesson (the intensity of play, the first 2 goal loss for Pep, etc.) ... but I don't see why that is a bad thing? you have to be taught lessons in order to learn; and there is no harm in learning from the best (tactically speaking) ...

but my comments should not come as a surprise ... I have always talked about how much Pep still has to learn about the tactical side of things, but that doesn't mean that I don't think he is without doubt the best manager for Barcelona ... the man has come through the cantera, captained the team, but most important of all, he learnt the Barcelona total football philosophy from Cruyff himself! there is no substitute for that, and that is why he is so ideal for the job ...

and in addition to that, Pep is an intellectual, someone who I would get along with quite well I think ... but again, that doesn't mean there aren't several things I don't agree with him about ... he has been trying things this year (2010), more than last year, but his decisionmaking still leaves a lot to be desired ... but like I have said before, he is young, he will hopefully learn, and that could make him amongst the all-time greatest managers ...

now, I think it is worth reiterating that while I may have a couple of problems with Pep's tactics and decisions, I am not against him as a manager, and I hope he stays for a long time ... but what I am against is all the Barça fanboys who consider anything Pep does to be almost Godlike, have bought into their own hopelessly ridiculous hype of Pep, and believe him to be beyond criticism ...

rubbish ... get past the pressure? what pressure? Barcelona were so lacklustre, and hardly played with any intensity ... ridiculous to make such a conclusion based on one match ... EDIT: it is tantamount to saying 'Barcelona are a weak side if they play badly' ...

judging him too harshly on one match ... Maicon and Dani Alves are the 2 names that are consistently mentioned when talking about the "world's best right back" ... I have always advocated Maicon as the best, and Dani Alves as a close second ... but it was such irony that both Maicon and Dani Alves had shockers in the first half; anyone who was seeing them for the first time would have laughed at the suggestion that they were two best in the world ...

Maicon improved in the second half, and made amends for his first half mental lapse (that led to the opening goal) by scoring one himself, and putting in a more solid defensive display ... Dani Alves, though, failed to improve ... on his day, Dani Alves can make the difference, because he is a matchwinner in his own right; it just wasn't his day ... it really wasn't anyone's day for Barcelona ...

Yes we shouldn't blame a player, the defensive line or just the referee, whole team were unrecognizable last night. If in the second leg we are Barça again, we will make it.

I'm curious what you guys think of this:

The Ruban Kazan manager noticed and mentioned in the press that Xavi rarely tracks back on defense, so on counter attacks you can slip an extra central midfielder into the attack to get a numerical advantage. I've heard that it's quite possible on the first goal that Sneijder was Xavi's man; Pandev came inside taking Alves with him, and Sneijder was wide open on the right because Xavi didn't come back with him. If this is true I wouldn't expect to see Xavi and Iniesta playing together in tough games ever again.

Funny thing happened to me last night at an Italian restaurant.

The waitor came to the table next to mine and started talking to the customer about the tuesday's match, teasing him about Barcelona losing. I figured he was a friend of the waitor or something, and they talked a lot about football. Didn't really pay that much attention to it. Then when he had talked for awhile, I realized his voice sounded very familiar. I took a look, and who was it? None other, than Jari Litmanen! (H)

Barca did against Chelsea few years back. It was a fantastic game, brilliant staff from master Rivaldo.

Btw, La Liga is so important as well. 5 matches left and two of them are very though, away matches against Sevilla and Villareal.

Let's Go Barca, Viva La Catalonia

I was in Lahti, the city where he currently plays. The restaurant is very popular there, they've got huge menus, with something for everyone - dozens of different pastas and pizzas, meat dishes and proper Italian ice cream. Plus the dishes are all huge and well-priced.

Didn't talk to him or ask for an autograph, never been that kind of a guy.
