I've gone from 3rd Division to leading the 1st Division in 3 years... (With Swansea) and spending hardly any money by mostly picking speed, and then some quality...
This is the tactic i use -- with a 'Counter Attack' mode in mind... to exploit my team's speed. Plus i have a awesome Goalie... and so the last 2 seasons, and this year i've had the best defensive record in the whole nation.... and thats despite playing 8 more games per season than the Premier League teams...

I have the the DM's arrow pushed forward towards the AM position (down the flanks)... and the ACM had got 'forward runs, and run with the ball instructions... and his arrow goes up to the striker's line.

hmm, the central backs must have an arrow to the side, other wise the wingers can just walk trough. IMO this is the way the most goals are scored mostly for me a cross from the wingers and a simple tap in (which are almost always scored and don't go over the bar) follows

... I have really fast CB's... so if the other team is playing 2 up front, well usually one CB can move to take the winger... and the others slide across, and mark up... and you'd be surprised how much the DM's actually sit back... they don't provide hardly any crosses for my strikers (with a counter attack mode on they are usually too slow to move up the field before the play is done.... and then they only really get involved in conventional crosses if the opposition is just sitting on their 18 yard box)...
My DM's usually just give an early through ball and the AM is sitting up futher than what he probably should be (which puts 3 attackers against 2 CB and the other defenders who are sitting wider) and then he just draws a defender, releases the fast striker for a 1 on 1 with the goalie...
The realy advantage i've notice from this is the qucik counters from throw-ins you can get... the DM's can win the ball on the line... and my counter attack destroys teams...
(I don't know if it has anything to do with my training... but all i do is the General Training... plus i've added a (Over-loading - Attacking) thing to my Thursday evening programme... so if there is a chance on the break with the counter.... well with my attacker's speed, and their over-loading training... they usually do take their chances....

that is the exact same tactic as i hav always used in cm but long diagnal balls in the channels always messed me up, so i reverted to a modified 4-4-2. is this 3-5-2 tactic ur using with the 4.1.3 patch update?

I've got promoted ... i won the 1st Div.
I'm sad 'cause i've got a 11,000 capacity stadium.... (4,000 seated)...
... the same stupid stadium which i started with in 3rd Div.... 'cause my board is stupid !!!!!!
P.S... i stoped updating patches a while ago... .... i can't remember what i'm on...
I hardly noticed a difference (not enough of a change).... so i gave up on updating.... 'cause my dial-up connection is crap.
All i've done is at the start is relied on really fast strikers for the counter attacks...

Freestone will retire and Apexhead (or whatever that crappy Liverpool GK is called) is still going to remain as a sub.
I think i've only got 2 player over 27 in my first team...
