so does anyone have the highlights of the game against mallorca?
in such matches it means nothing. if Barca played against some average Englosh team, then, of course, we could use this stats, but only not against such top team as Chelsea is.Originally posted by SuRFy
Some pretty positive statistics leading up to the blockbuster.

just watch this documentary following Barca (well Laporta and the board mainly) for a year, the 03/04 season:
BARÇA: THE INSIDE STORY
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/documentaries/storyville/barca.shtml
First, i have to say i had no idea how much sh*t Barca were in before Laporta, the debt, the 'Mad Boys' and the politics around the club.
The documentary was very good and followed Laporta from the time of the vote untill the last game of the season. We got to see literally everything that happened between this time, from the signing of Ronaldinho, to the discussion of next seasons team.
after watching it you realise how well Laporta and his team have done to transform the finances and basically moderise Barca from a very traditional club with huge debt to a modern business that performs on and off the pitch. When his team first got in and got to look at the books, it was amazing to learn that Kluivert was earning 10% of the 70 million euro basic salary alone. Then later to learn that his agent had 'earned' 1.5m euros (it was meant to be 3m euros but the old GM negotiated down) for renewing Kluiverts and Reizigers contracts.
Other interesting things that happened in the show was how new players are signed, we saw that it was Rijkaard that demanded a new defensive player on a Tuesday and by the Sunday, Davids was loaned for the remainder of the season. which was good management from the board considering the pressure on Rijkaard, and how the board resisted pressure to sack him. Later we saw how the 'standard' contract was negotiated with Davids's agent, consisting of a basic salary then bonuses based on 60% appearance, CL qualification, winning a first title then a second. They did earlier calculate that if Barca had won the league they would have to pay around 9m euros in bonuses which would mean they finished the season with a debt of 9 million or if they didn't win then it would mean a profit of 8m euros (which did happen).
i also had no idea of how strong the politics surronding barca are. it was shocking to hear about the death threats and planned intimidation for Laporta via the 'Mad Boys' from some former directors.
All in all it was a very good documentary, and it was impressive to see how barca are run.
Yes, even if you're not a Barca fan (I don't consider myself one--anymore) it's very interesting to watch.Originally posted by rsnjg
