F.C. Barcelona Thread [2004-2005]

Starting XI
I heard on the TV today that Barcelona had agreed a contract with Solari but will wait until the summer to sign him because then he would transfer as a free agent.

That'd be great.

Senior Squad
Barça is after him because he's a good player.

I've read that there's no agreement yet.

Once we have signed some striker now, the negociations with Solari should beging.

No serious news about the striker yet, but he should be signed as soon as possible. Rumours today talk about: Maxi lópez from River or Bojinov from Lecce. Both difficult signings. There ara also a couple of players whose name we don't know yet.

Starting XI
I think we should get a striker who will come to stay, not just replace Larsson for half of a season.

Carew has said that he had stopped all negotiations with Barca because he and his team-mates want to help the victims of tsunami so he can't think about a move right now. That pretty much rules him out IMO because we won't wait for him.A signing is more than urgent.

As for the candidates, I haven't seen much of Bojinov nor of that dude Lopez.I don't know who could sign.

Youth Team
Deco's dream team

FC Barcelona and Portugal playmaker Deco resisted the temptation to pick himself in his Team of the Year 2004. You can vote for the uefa.com users' Team of the Year until next Monday.

Goalkeeper
Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus FC and Italy)
He is the most complete goalkeeper of the players nominated, perhaps the best in the world. He is so consistent and sets the standards for other goalkeepers to aim for.

Right-back
Cafu (AC Milan and Brazil)
He is still the best in his position. He may be 34 but that is certainly not holding him back. He is reliable, consistent, and gets up and down the pitch so well.

Left-back
Ashley Cole (Arsenal FC and England)
He is very assured in defence and good when he goes forward. He impressed me during UEFA EURO 2004™ and played very well against us when he marked Cristiano Ronaldo.

Centre-back
Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea FC and Portugal)
For me it is simple: he is the best centre-back in the world. He was one of the key figures in Porto's success in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup and one of Portugal's stars at EURO 2004™.

Centre-back
Carles Puyol (FC Barcelona and Spain)
He is an indispensable player for my team. He is a quality player and also has great strength of character. He is an inspiration to his team-mates.

Right midfield
Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United FC and Portugal)
He is very young, but this is not so important as he has incredible strength. We already knew he was a talent and he had a great 2004 and I think he has a great future ahead of him.

Central midfield
Maniche (FC Porto and Portugal)
As with Carvalho, I think Maniche is the best in the world in his position. He came to the fore in EURO 2004™. He is a great playmaker and also scores vital goals. His contribution is invaluable. He is the heartbeat.

Left midfield
Pavel Nedved (Juventus FC and ex-Czech Republic)
The complete footballer...he attacks, he defends, he organises, he scores... he knows what football is all about. He was the talisman for the Czech Republic and was so instrumental in their developing into one of the best teams in the world.

Attacking midfield
Ronaldinho (FC Barcelona and Brazil)
I love this player. Of all the players in the world, Ronaldinho is the one I like to see playing most and, of course, it is great to see him now from close range since I joined Barcelona. He's a matchwinner and does things that no one else can.

Forward
Adriano (FC Internazionale Milano and Brazil)
He is the strongest and most powerful striker. He has technical skills to envy and has great potential. Brazil have a whole new army of players and he is at the forefront of the new generation.

Forward
Thierry Henry (Arsenal FC and France)
The quickest and most powerful striker and he usually has goals in his body. Even in difficult games he can create something out of nothing. He is always a danger.

Coach
José Mourinho (ex-FC Porto, Chelsea FC)
I worked with him for a long time and because of this I know what he can do. He knows football, he understands players and he is a classy operator.

Paulo Da Silva

he's youngand promising, but i feel we need somebody who can put the ball in the net, for instance Anelka, Bojinov. Barca need a good scorer just in case E'too gets injured.(let's hope not)

Inzaghi? If you want to sign a good striker from the CL you should go after Bojinov or even Gilardino. Even Cruz, our 5th placed striker, would be a better addition, since he's a tall guy whose good with both feet and he can play in the middle or even as a wide forward.

SuRFy

Starting XI
Well Gilardino will go to AC eventually and Boijnov is a bit too expensive probably i forgot what lecce want to sell him for, Cruz is alright i've seen him play for inter a couple of times. Can Players that played in the uefa cup play in the champions league in the same year ? i mean like when that player moves ?
