confirmed on the psv site as well...

After the period at Barcelona he'll return to PSV, well that's what he said, hopefully the money won't make him decide otherwise

nah, I think he's like Cocu. He will go back to PSV to have nice ending at home.

what can we expect from him?

Neeskens and Bruins Slot defined him saying "he's like Cocu but with sour grapes when its necessary"

Van Bommel scored a lot of goals at PSV as well!
Who do you think will be out of the squad for next season?
Albertini, Sylvinho? Who else?

Since when do Neeskens and Bruins Slot know van Bommel so well? Weird.

I think Van Bommel will rotate with Xavi and Deco but it will be nice to see the midfield Deco-Xavi-Van Bommel.

Albertini, Fernando Navarro and hopefully Gerard. Maybe someone else, depending on the new signings.

Another champion for Barça

desire to win, strength, skill, and a powerful capacity for joining in with the attack and scoring goals are just a few of the outstanding features of Mark Van Bommel's game, and the player will be joining Barça for the 2005-06 season.

Mark Van Bommel is Frank Rijkaard's first new signing for the 2005-06 season. The Dutch midfielder will add even more strength to a squad that has already shown what it is capable of doing by winning the league title. Van Bommel's arrival suggests that things can only get better for the Spanish champions.

The new signing is a great all-rounder who will add more depth to Barcelona's already impressive midfield. His powerful physique (he is 1.87 metres tall and weights 84 kilos) is complemented by extraordinary skills, strength in the air and outstanding tactical awareness.

Van Bommel is a regular in the Dutch national side and has captained PSV. He is renowned for his playmaking abilities in the centre of the park, and is an expert at containing possession. He is intelligent, a great passer of the ball and has a powerful right-footed shot, which he uses both for long range efforts and when he moves up to join the forwards in the opposing area.

Goalscorer

Wherever he plays, Mark Van Bommel is always a useful back-up for the forwards. This season, for example, he scored 14 goals in 13 Erisdivisie games, and was the second highest scorer for his team behind the centre forward Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink with 19.

These goals have included plenty of his trademark long-range shots, as well as free kicks, headers and goals scored from the far post.

Winner

Mark Van Bommel also has a strong desire to win. Since he joined PSV from Fortuna Sittard in the 1999-2000 season, Barça's new star has won 4 leagues and 3 super cups in Holland.

This season he has proved an ideal partner in midfield for ex-Barcelona player Philip Cocu, and led his team to the semi finals of the Champiosn League where they were narrowly defeated by AC Milan.

Panxo, what are the slangs for money in Spain?

the most comon slang for money is "pasta". There are more but this one is the most used: "la pasta"

and I agree with dream team about the players that will leave.

don't nkow about sylvinho's contract but I guess it's not too high.

bah! "la pasta"? for a ubercatalan like Panxoman i would use "la pela" :fool:

he he. we don't really use "la pela".

It's more the expression "la pela és la pela", but that's all. Maybe some years ago with pesetas, but now with euros, nah.

by the way, explainme where does the expresion "polacos" comes from. You told me you know it and I'm curios about it.

Cheers Virgo, look at this :sb9:

Chelsea offer Crespo, Gallas for Barcelona's Eto'o

Chelsea are stepping up their bid to land Barcelona ace Samuel Eto'o - by including two players in their mega bid.

The Cameroon international is Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho's big summer target and is rated at £30 million-plus by Barca president Joan Laporta.

To smooth negotiations, Chelsea are willing to offer £16 million cash, plus defender William Gallas and on-loan AC Milan striker Hernan Crespo in exchange for Eto'o.

Laporta paid Real Mallorca £16 million 12 months ago for Eto'o and the opportunity to sell at such a big profit will prove tempting for the Barca.

Both Crespo and Gallas have been on the shopping list of Barca coach Frank Rijkaard, who hasn't always seen eye-to-eye with Eto'o this season.

According to AS, the Chelsea pair have told close friends they're excited about moving to Barca. But the stumbling block could be their wages, with their present Chelsea salaries far too rich to fit under Laporta's strict wage cap.

lmao Eto'o joining Chelsea after he said. Now that would beat Figo joining Madrid after calling them "Blancos chorones"
