Could you explain, please? What are these A2 exams?

Results from 3 subjects I've taken over 2 years. Grading from A-E (passes) and U (failure). Most Uni's disregard anything under a C. You apply to uni, they give you an offer and then when your results come in they either accept you or reject you.

My 3 subjects were Philosophy, Chemistry and Biology.

Listen mate, dont worry about them, just to put your mind slightly at rest:

I was predicted ABC, i needed BBC to get into Hallam to do Psychology.

So imagine my horror when i opened up my results to find i'd got a B in Media Studies, a C in Psychology and a D in ICT, exactly a grade less than i'd been predicted. I thought; "maybe i can still get into Psychology", when i checked UCAS, they had upped the boundaries to ABB, hence destroying my chances. At about 2pm i found out it was indeed unsuccesful, i was gutted.

So then i enterred the biggest lottery of all, clearing. 'Cept it isnt anywhere near that bad, its diabolically stressful, but what would uni be without stress :p. Anyway, clearing (if you have to go through it) is all about determination, make calls DONT email, make calls DONT send letters, if you've any questions, phone UCAS, they're there to help, they want as many people in Uni as possible.

Also, go into your college, just cos you've got your results it doesnt mean your forgotten, they will help you SO much and explain everything along the way.

So thats it basically, if you get the grades, sit back, get pissed and wait for the letter to come through the post. If you dont, then prepare to be slightly stressed, but in the end, you should be ok.

Of by the way, if it all becomes oh so bad, you can always retake your A2 year.

So I take it that introductory line was sarcasm?

I need BBB in Biology, Computing, Art and Design to get into my first choice university. To get a B in Computing I needed 70/90 in my final A2 exam, of which I think I did appallingly.

I'm ******* ****ting one.

I'm taking a gap year anyway, but i'll only resit 1 exam if I have to, Chemistry which I ****ed up, but my other exams should keep me in a position to keep my C. If I get a C then no resit.

Anyway, I have been thinking about clearing anyway.

no it wasnt sarcasm, you shouldnt worry about them too much, because its never as bad as you think its gonna be.

You just gotta know that you aint alone if it all goes pear-shaped.

YELLOW CARD - Sarcasm
I take it your one of those young ones that thinks that getting good results is the be all and end all.

I remember the results day I had, all these people who had worked there balls off came in thinking they were going to walk into a decent uni. I found it hilarious when they got their results and started crying there eyes out because they hadn't got an A*. Followed by joy later when they rang up the uni to find that about 20 people had dropped off their course because of shít results and they could still walk in.

I didn't even apply to uni untill the september after I got my results and I still walked into a computing degree class in Swansea.

Liam's right, unless you're going for one of the top courses (which i was, stupidly) you'll be fine. 90% of uni courses have places on them up until the course starts.

All im saying is, you really dont need to worry.

It's like a GCSE, you realise afterwards, that all you really needed were half decent english/maths/science results :D

Even If you get AAA you will still have to pay money? Or you will enter and study for free?

Everyone has to pay the £3,000 a year tuition fees. (even though you get a loan to pay it)

Good luck to all expecting results in the UK today - I got my IB results aages ago so I don't know why UCAS sent me an email telling me to not worry about the exam results today! :p

I dont have to pay £3000 :D Apparently it would be "unfair" to make current students pa full whack so im still on a grand (H)

Same here (H)

To all those of you getting results today, I hope you get the grades you want but like the others have said it's not the end of the world if you don't, as you most probably will still be able to get into where you wanted, just give them a ring and if not there's always clearing, which has some good courses.
