Everton vs. Sunderland [R]

McBride Does It Again!!!!!!!!!!!

Final Score

Everton 2 - 1 Sunderland
Mcbride Kilbane
Mcbride

On his home debut Brian McBride scored two second half goals to give Everton a good home win after going down to a first half goal by Kevin Kilbane.

Everton were dominant, completley and utterly. Alan Stubbs should have had a hat-trick within the first five minutes!!!! Not to mention bad misses by radzinski and watson. It was against the run of play when sunderland scored to be fair it was a well worked goal but they didn't deserve it at all!!!! But they settled for that. They just stayed back and tried for the one nil win. But the way that everton were playing today it was just a matter of time til our luck changed and we got back into it.

It came six minutes into the second half, a cross was met by an overhead scissors from McBride that took a deflection off a Sunderland defender and into the back of the net. Then six minutes later a well taken goal from McBride again sealed the three points.

I don't want to upset MLS fans but I wouldn't be suprised if we try to sign McBride, he is the hit man we have been after. I know he has just signed a contract with and MLS club (Is it Chicago?!??! not sure) but surely would be available at the right price, and I think I know where he would rather play!!!!!!!!!!

Ah yes, good too see him doing so well...pity he couldn't play aginest US National team mate Claudio Renya tho.

Glad Everton won, just stay ahead of Liverpool now! ;)

McBride plays in Columbus. :D

Now, I hate McBride, I hate Columbus, and I hate Everton, but it is good for US Soccer for him to be doing well. Wait till you guys get a load of Clint Mathis!

I just hope should McBride move permanently to Everton that he dont end up like the man he took the number 19 from =>Joe Max Moore.

I could be mistaken, but I think Moore was banging in a few for Everton when he first went there like McBride, but hopefully they will have different futures at the club.

Tough decision for David Moyes now. Does he stick with McBride up front? Or does he bring back, now fit again, club captain Kevin Campbell?

I think Joe-Max Moore is but just half the player McBride is.

About Campbell, if it isn't broke, then why fix it?

Joe Max Moore hasn't played much because his work permit expired and he coulnd't get a new one. I am really happy for McBride cause he's a great player.

JMM is ****e compared to McBride. McBride is ****e compared to Mathis. His MLS contract is up next year. I hope Liverpool sign him!

Joe Max Moore did do the same thing when he came to Everton at the start. At that time we needed a quick player to run off the knock downs from ferguson, but at this time we need a target man while campbell and ferguson are out.

He's doing a great job at the moment, yes he's scoring goals but he's also setting up a lot of chances as well. I have to say that he has suprised me and he obviously seems to suit the English game.

And yes JONO that overhead scissors did go in. But it took a massive deflection off a defender and trickled over the line. Not quite as spectacular as it could be!!! But his second goal was good though, he recieved the ball on the edge of the box, facing away from the goal, he twisted and turned away from the defenders and cooly slotted it into the bottom corner. The Boy Did Good!!!!

Goal of the year if it did!!!
lol ... yeah it did go in.
don't really know how though.
you have to admit he was a little lucky.

however he took his second really well. The keeper didn't move.
McBride has scored as many goals for Everton as Rooney. :p

What a dream start this is for McBride... I couldn't have imagined it better. I just hope he enjoys the same type of success until his time at Everton is up. If they want to keep him longer, they could probably work out a deal with MLS so he can stay until the end of the Premiership season.

I wouldn't go as far calling either of these players ****e compared to anyone. Joe Max Moore is near the end of his career so to do him justice you have to look at him two years ago and before that. And lets not forget he's the man who got the US to World Cup 2002. Remember that game versus Jamaica?

McBride was one of the US NT's most valuable players at WC 2002, and is one of the greatest MLS and US NT players ever. Mathis, on the other hand, has shown great talent in some games. However at the same time he's been somewhat of an underachiever. I think he needs to get really serious about his soccer career and not let his talents go to waste. He has an incredible shot and can also set up other players. If he can get into full fitness he will be an unstopable striker, not just in MLS, but in top European leagues as well.

Mathis' attitude is disappointing and frankly I don't think he has any desire to play in Europe.

Landon Donovan has a great attitude, but also I am disappointed that he doesn't want to goto Europe (yet). I guess you can't really blame players for wanting to stay in their homeland (especially when it's across the Atlantic from Europe).

Barring any injuries for the new "captain america"( for the time being) during the upcoming year, Mathis will be in Europe.

Not only will he be in Europe but he will be firing in the goals for
fun!:mrpimp:
