This goes completely against Moysey's Transfer Policy...
FINALLY!...
Even if it is Jeffers!
Everton have completed the signings of Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers and Leeds keeper Nigel Martyn.
England international Jeffers returns to Goodison Park on a season-long loan deal.
Keeper Martyn joins as reserve to Richard Wright for a nominal fee after being allowed to end his seven-year stay at Leeds.
The double signings ends Everton manager David Moyes' long search for new players after a frustrating summer as he failed to sign Sean Davis, Robbie Savage and Barry Ferguson.
Jeffers, 22, was a product of Everton's youth system and made 60 appearances for the club before joining Arsenal two years ago in an £8 million deal.
But he has only started four Premiership games for the Gunners and was sent-off in his last game for them, the Community Shield.
And manager Arsene Wenger has decided to let Jeffers leave Highbury for first-team football.
With Kevin Campbell injured, Everton boss Moyes has been short of strikers so far this season.
`This is his chance to put right the things what many people have said about him,' Moyes told the club's website, www.evertonfc.com.
`It will give him an opportunity to compete for a position in the team but there is no guarantee with Wayne [Rooney], Kevin, Tomasz [Radzinski], Duncan [Ferguson] and Nick Chadwick.
`I felt though that we needed to add a little bit more so as the season goes on we can have more goals from the squad and adding Francis should help that.'
Martyn, who won 23 international caps, was overtaken in the Elland Road pecking order by Paul Robinson last season.
He was previously linked with a move to big-spending Chelsea but did not want to uproot his family and the move across the Pennines proved much more attractive.
The club has two young goalkeepers in Danny Milosevic and Scott Carson waiting in the wings to become Robinson's understudy and manager Peter Reid admitted it was only fair to allow Martyn to move on.
`He's in the last year of his deal and he has been a fantastic servant to this club,' said Reid.
`We've got young goalkeepers - that's one of the reasons for letting him go. But the other is as a thank you for being so patient.
`He is a top professional and deserves a first team place somewhere.'
