Even Professionals play Championship Manager

Joey (real name Johannes) Gudjonsson joined Aston Villa in late-January 2003 after a somewhat protracted transfer process with Spanish club Real Betis.
At one stage, the Icelandic international had agreed to move only for Betis, where he had fallen out of favour, to double the amount they wanted for the player to join Villa on loan for the remainder of the season.

The midfielder, who has also turned out for Dutch sides RKC Waalwijk, Belgian outfit Genk and also IA Aranes in his homeland, was immediately challenged by a delighted Graham Taylor to earn a permanent move to the Premiership.

Villa boss Taylor said: 'He's a 22-year-old midfielder. He's got lots of energy, he's very competitive. He's also a good passer and he also creates space for himself.'

Gudjonsson claims to have a good understanding of the English game due to his addiction to computer game Championship Manager - and straight away praised Villa captain Gareth Barry.

He explained: 'I know almost every player by name already. I play a lot of Championship Manager and Gareth Barry is always a good buy. Hopefully he is just as good in real life.'

Most professionals play it, most of the Leeds team do, just before the world cup he admitted it, not that it is nothing to be ashamed of. And as for players browsing CM forums, I very much doubt it

Learn in 3 days or so. :)

David James was dropped from the Liverpool squad for his addiction to computer game, it impaired his reflexes.

A Dundee player was dropped for an addiction to pickled onions!

Barthez and Dwight Yorke smokes....

Who cares? That is there personal life, if I had a journalist going round telling the world that I drunk cappucino, espresso, and hardly slept, I would be pissed off.

And going back to what Sir_Didier_Drogba said, if a footballer did search these forums, I am sure he would love us enquiring into his personal life.

Well if researchers said I had 10 in shooting, and 20 in heading and so on, I would know my weaknesses, so I suppose it does make you a better player.

I honestly think some managers would benefit from playing Championship Manager. It can really increase your player knowledge, helps in the transfer market.

The researchers have done i great job with players in leagues such as Italy and Spain, but i think they have lotta players in smaller leagues over or under estimated.

riiiight...

so you mean that without someone else evaluating you, you wouldnt know what your weaknesses are? :|

even if pros dont know that (which i doubt), you think the manager/coaches wouldnt tell them what they need to work on? :S
