The addition of Live play is without doubt a major bonus for those of us fed up with having to wrestle with PS2 Online. The truth is, despite there being online play in last year's version, we hardly touched it. This time, however, you can hardly get us off it, and it has already become this reviewer's big online kick."</i><br><br>Read the full review <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=56842" target="_blank">here</a>.</font></td></tr><tr><td width="100%"><br><font size="2" face="Arial"><font color="#000000" face="Arial" size="1">Posted at <a href="http://www.fifa04.com">FIFA 2004 Online</a> by <a href="mailto:">Andrew</a></font>

don't completely agree with that interview, especially the stuff about first touch, dribbling and off the ball... i use a keyboard, and still have no problems, yeah dribbling is a miss and hit affair, but first touch is absolutely divine... i guess you have to actually play and watch a lot of football to figure out when to push the ball an extra yard, and when receive and keep it close to yourself

"You could literally pull off the same move 100 times, but find only about 25 per cent of those ever go on target (and if they do they mostly go in), no matter whether the player taking the shot is Thierry Henry or a journeyman clogger. It certainly helps keep the score down, but in a way that appears to have very little bearing on the skill of the player. It's almost like the game's way of saying "you should score from there most of the time, but to make it feel more realistic we're going to make you fail more often than not". Bah. Sometimes you just want those stupid scorelines after all."

OMG!! exactly!!! the reason the score-lines are low is not because the gameplay is more realistic, but because the game-engine is horrendous!

That paragraph (along with a couple of others), just put the icing on the cake for me. For no matter how one decorates this game with lights and ornaments, no matter how "deep" career mode is, no matter how "innovative" first-touch is, the above quote from the review completely obliterates everything else. Logic proves this to be true. Think. Go back and re-read the quote i posted. READ it and UNDERSTAND what it is saying.

How can one say that FIFA is catching up to PES's level? <~~~ that's not a bash on FIFA, so calm down mods.

I simply posted my reaction and my opinion to the review. (Can i at least do that on these forums?!?!?)

hmm, well after reading that, i think some of it is true, and some of it is not, they just havent played it enough yet. ive been playing with the pc version, and i score quite a bit. the first touch system...at least for me...works very well. i can remember several times where i have crossed the ball to my forwards, with 2 defenders around me, and by using the first touch control, i headed/chested the ball in a different direction, while they were trying to take the ball away from me....causing a breakaway, and a wide open Henry coming down the middle because the two defenders were busy with me and not marking him. other times, i have used the first touch control when tight in the box, to maneuver around to get a shot off. i dont know what everybody has a problem with in scoring from close quarters though....i have scored several times from close...as in one on one with the keeper, and the only times i didnt score, was because im using a friggin keyboard to aim. and while im on this, so many reviewers love PES...but in my opinion, i feel like a robot when im controlling the players...like im limited because its not as fluid as fifa. there are more options for flick ons and stuff, but options dont make it smooth. anyway, the fifa demo is great i think, and once i get a controller in my hands and start learning the controls, i think this will the best soccer/football game ever. (yes i said it.)

okay, after reading your comment about the moves only working x% of the time....how many times do crazy moves actually work in real life? i mean, ive seen c. rinaldo do his step overs and stuff, but half the time, it either doesnt throw the defender off...or he just does all that crap and then passes it off. hell, i could sit there and move the right joystick and do 5 different moves before the defender got close, and then pass it off and always suceed. to me, crazy moves only work about 50/50 in real life, and the other times, the only individual efforts in real life that result in goals are usually on the shots, not the moves. granted there are moves that dazzle and result in some nice plays, but that usually only happens when they juke a defender and then pass it off for a one timer type goal. am i wrong on this? not to say it doesnt happen, but there are very few times where ive seen one guy run 30 yds or so, juke 3 defenders, and then juke the goalie. i would be really pissed if the moves worked all the time, and all they had to do was do something flashy to get by me. to me, its more about well timed runs, a move every now and then to free up players, and accurate shots.
