Euro 2004 ... anyone know anything?

It would be very unlike EA not to try and capitalize on the swirl of hype (and significant commercial opportunity) around Euro 2004. Wonder, to that end, whether a game will be released? I remember I enjoyed the last one.

Dream a little dream, but imagine if they threw in the African Cup license as well ... they could save themselves an enormous amount of work for next year.

Altogether, with qualifying, I think that's less than 100 teams for both competions, and I can guarantee the African Cup license would come cheap. Would love to play on a few suspect pitches in Kenya or whatnot - great atmosphere!

If anyone (Matt perhaps?) knows anything concrete about Euro 2004 (the greater likelihood) let me know.

You just gave me the best idea! Instead of just a World Cup game and just a Euro 2004 game, EA could include all the major international tournaments in those games. For example, the next International game would have the Euro Cup, African Cup of Nations, Copa America, Gold Cup, Asian Cup (not sure exactly what its called), Confederations Cup, a World Cup, and qualifying for all those tournaments. It would be similar to the international options available in 2002. Or they could just include it in the annual FIFA game. What do you guys think?

I think international tournaments would be a dream to add some depth to a Euro game, if they have it. Would be awesome to have the Asian Cup, etc. They could even build campaign elements (like season from FIFA 2004) into international management, with confidence levels, team morale, etc.

Instead of a season, you could negotiate friendlys, blood the under-21 team, etc. To that end, why not have a World Youth Cup. I can't speak from the outside, but I believe the real work in developing the FIFA series is in gameplay, player rendering, database development, etc.

FIFA is the biggest earner, to that end, they could invest in a team of interns (or smoking monkeys) who are tasked with developing faces and researching line-ups. A small investment in terms of budget development, particularly with the number of volunteers eager to help out. This is why it always troubles me when they release a game which includes teams with generic rosters or no real players at all - this is the easiest part, I'd suspect.

Anyway, dream on. I hope they release a Euro game, and I hope the database can be imported via the creation centre to FIFA 2004, or vice-versa. I know there's no news on this, but I'd be really surprised if there isn't a Euro 2004.

Why dont they just make two games each year? One for club football and one for intrenational football. That way they could please everyone. Each game would have all the players, teams and competitions you wanted without there having to be a compromise between the two. We get everything we want and EA gets more money cos a lot of folk would buy both games - everyones happy!

why don't they add in more team? if EURO2004 just like WC2002, that was a bit boring playing the same tournament with optional teams. why don't they have more country team and we need to play qualifying before get into final. that will be great. more tournament added into game will make the games more fantastic, Asia Cup is a good suggestion. another suggestion from me, they should get Adidas and Nike copyrights to make the game nicer, Adidas ball and boots, Nike boots too. this is better than we using boot utilities assign specific boot to some player than they provide us original boot isn't? :D

you wish... all EA cares about is money. they will make as many games as possible so they can make more money. Euro, World Cup, FIFA, they might even start adding new games. who knows...

The idea of two FIFA games, a Full International and a Full Club idea is fantastic, but paying 40 bucks for 2 games when all of it should be in 1 would definately piss me off ;) (H)

aye, if EA cared about bringing football to the gaming industry properly, thaey'd not skip on such things like sponsorships.

Of course they are interested in money. They aren't a non-profit charity group.

But if they build it, I will buy it. Maybe they should be selling regional expansion packs based on the football confederations i.e. African or South American-specific national and club teams. Problem being, I don't think EA thinks the South American, African or Asin (rampant piracy) markets are too promising.
