Trust me, no player aint worth £45 million:)

Zidane is, however Rooney is not a Zidane. Come on.

Personally, I think the price range between £10-£25 million at most is reasonable.

Chelsea however, will be able to pay £40.

I doubt Chelsea will go buy a lot of players this time though. Mourinho wants a smaller squad.

Do you guys know Owen faced a lot of injuries?

Do you know he isn't exactly fit season 03-04? He didn't score much.

He still has the starting place by reputation.

Yes I would say Owen is not doing so well right now, but don't jump to the conclusion and say he is crap right away.

Imagine if he scores a 6-yard last minute winner against France. What would you say then?

Give Owen a little time.

i didnt say rooney is bad.but how can you say it's better than a legend? baggio is a legend and rooney is just a kid.years ahead will show if he turns to be better or worse.

Eriksson didn't say he is better than legend Baggio.

Baggio is one of the world's greatest for Pete's sake!

It's the newspapers. Easier to sell paper with sensational headlines.

I think the club a player plays at, and the way that team plays affects the player's quality immensely. Look at Owen from a few years ago, and look at him now. Gerrard Houllier ruined him, he's instilled in him this idea of waiting for long balls to come to him.

If you look at the 18-20 year old Owen, he's a constant menace, always shaking up the defense, maybe dribbling through a few defenders, now look at him. I also think Man Utd spoiled Ruud a little, not in his finishing ability, but his hunger to go attack a defense on his own.

I'm sure if an attacking coach like Wenger, or Sir Alex bought Owen, he would be a world beater, so hopefully Rooney gets picked up by a bigger club and develops properly.

...... From the producers of David Beckham's hype.... Gerrard is englands best, and doesnt get anywhere near the hype those two get.

Exactly. That's exactly what Ive been saying. He plays at Liverpool who lack creative ideas in midfield, let him play under the guidance of a Wenger or a Fergie, with a exciting midfield and you will see the goal scoring machine at his best. You are a smart dude. (Y)

you know it makes me laugh to read some of the jealous haters on these forums ....they cant stand the fact that an Englishman is taking Euro by storm.......well i hope it really p.i.ss.es you off.You saw Rooney nutmeg Zidane did you?You saw him leave Zidane standing on many occasions did you?Now if this was an Italian,Spanish or Brazilian lad you would all be saying great things about him but because he is English you cannot bear it........well suffer then you sad pitiful ppl....'cos we dont actually give a toss what your opinion might be,,,,the facts speak for themselves........and as for overated .....nobody is saying he is the best in the world but i'd rather watch Rooney playing than some of the rubbish i watched at Euro today......but he is English and thats all you need to know to be negative.......it comes over as juvenile whinging so nobody takes you seriously anyway..........:D

he is yet to perform consistantly week in week out at club level yet , so I cant see anyone wanting to pay 45 million for him.

Wow, that made less sense than anything I've ever read.

Shut up you morons. No one is saying he is Baggio. He is saying he has the potential and talent to one day become Baggio. That's a world away from comparing him to a legend (who I might add DID sky the final penalty at WC 94, and he's twice the legend for that than anything he did in his career to everyone outside of Italy).

My god this needs to stop, I hope the Croatians beat England and he gets a red card and scores an own goal becas this is ridiculous, I swear whenever I watch a EURO match (live from either BBC or ITV) I hear the name Rooney at least 10000000 times it's f*cking sick :kader:

It's simply because he touches a lot of balls

He looks very promising indeed, but let´s wait and see his development. There were so many great promising players in the last years that turned into nothing that now i always carefull about saying that someone can be the next Pele.

I can give you a list of wonderfull and full of potential portuguese players when they were 18 years old that vanished into oblivion.

Emilio Peixe (considered bu Fifa the best player in the under 20 worl cup in lisbon several years ago)

Dani (personnaly the most amazing young player i´ve ever seen)

Simão Sabrosa (he played a few youth european and world cups and a Toulon tournment besides Owen for England and he was several times considered the most valuable player of those tournments ahead of Owen)

Rooney seems to have what it takes to be in the future a super star but let´s not start to say that he is a Baggio right now because it´s a very silly thing to say.

He isn't because Gerrard Houllier spoiled him. Look at Owen back then and look at him now. The long ball technique at Liverpool ruined his ability to attack defenses on his own.

If he was at a team like Man Utd or Arsenal he would've been waaaay better than he is now, so I think if Rooney moves to a bigger club he will continue to develop.

No doubting his skill though, and if Eriksson himself said so, who the hell are u guys to challenge his opinion? HE has worked with guys like Baggio before, he knows what he's talking about, you dont because you watched from the sidelines...
