EPL Round 4: Manchester United x Arsenal [P/R]

As always we fund a way to come up with essential three points. You can call it luck ... whatever .... It was a fantastic and I mean fantastic match and as I said the winner is United, no doubt about that.

But I should give credit to Arsenal as well, they played fantastic match as well. Football is so ruthless, Van Persie lost that oppurtunity, he hited the bar as well and then BAAAAANG, Diaby Own goal.

Rooney = passion (he wanted to take that ball with his head, OMG)
Nani and Berba could kill it at the end and I'm so dissapointed with that. The end was the mess, Rooney let the ball go, then they scored, offside, wenger sent off.

At the end three sweet points. Am proud to support United.

Rooney went over a foot and a half before Almunia got to him. Rooney fell into a sliding Almunia.

It's as much of a dive as Eduardo's in midweek and should be judged as such. If Rooney isn't English he gets banned for that.

Now that i look at the penalty again, it wasn't a penalty. The ball was almost in the stand already by the time Almunia tripped Rooney and as mentioned Rooney was almost on his knees too by the time Almunia caught him. Very unlucky.

I wouldn't say this was a fantastic match, it was highly entertaining but both teams were sloppy and not at their best.
Utd at this point in the season aren't the same team as they were last year, of course I don't rule out that they could improve and get back to their best in the next few months, but on their performance today Arsenal should have punished them. And no, I don't think Arsenal deserved to lose based on who was the better team over ninety minutes, but they had the opportunities to make up for their misfortune and didn't take them.
Utd's defense was vulnerable today and Arsenal just didn't do enough to exploit that, especially in the last 20 minutes, so like I said they didn't deserve to lose, but I still think Wenger and the squad shouldn't be content with that performance.

It was a very soft penalty... but no way can you can compare it to Eduardo's dive against celtic. Eduardo was already falling before the keeper reached him

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
1st half: Arshavin doesn't get penalty at OT...it should have been a penalty
2nd half: Rooney gets penalty at OT...

Had he gotten that penalty, he wouldn't have scored that screamer because it came from the same attack. So if Arsenal had that penalty given, technically it wouldn't change a thing. (Of coarse that said we are talking about "what if" events here)

Besides the penalty shout is more debatable than Rooney's. The ball actually hits Fletcher before he slides into Arshavin. So even if Fletcher didn't touch Arshavin the ball already changed direction and was actually slowly rolling away from the net.

You can see that clearly in this replay

I agree that it was a little bit harsh of a decision but you cannot compare these 2 challenges. In Rooney's case he was already going forwards but there WAS contact whereas in Eduardo's case there was zero contact.

Definitely a dive. He was dragging his leg going into it and already falling down.

And by the way, I don't understand what's the big fuzz around Eduardo. It was a dive, obviously, but it wasn't any different from all the other dives. Still, this is the first time I've ever heard these lifetime ban suggestions. Come on people! Just look at Gilardino's, Ronaldo's, Robben's, Drogba's or Gerrard's dives. Some of them are much more outrageous than Eduardo's. Hypocrites.

League Managers Association chief executive Richard Bevan has called for Wenger to receive an apology and has confirmed he has been in contact with the Premier League Game Match Officials Board.

Bevan told Sky Sports, "Although correct in 'law', it was completely out of context in the game and it was followed by the nonsense which followed over where Arsene Wenger should sit.

"I've spoken to (Premier League referees chief) Keith Hackett and he fully recognises the situation was an error and an apology will follow to Arsene Wenger.

"Lee Probert totally failed to manage the situation and created a needless pressure point taking the focus away from the pitch in a big event with only a minute to go."

It appears Wenger did not intend to stand up on where he did but the ref sent him there. The disgraceful thing is the United fans where singing that "Wenger is a pedophile" chant...

Rooney was already on his way down (diving twat), but even if he wasn't Almunia was gonna take him down. The penalty was inevitable. Instead of bitching about that, you gooners should teach Diaby how to head. He got too gassed after scoring a brace against Pompey, needs to bag goals any way he could.

Anywho, be glad this was only a 2-1 against the Scum, you're gonna get a real beating when you come to the real Manchester (H)

I'm going to watch Togo play during Int'l break and sabotage Adebayor (H).
and when you Welcome us to Manchester (Tevez)/The Love Shack (Adebayor)/The destination of the 2011 Champions League trophy (Touré)...we won't be wearing blue ;)

The difference is that Rooney is better at diving.

To me a dive is a dive.

And Celtic have some nerve to go on about justice being done. Celtic dive more than anyone, but Dundee United and Hibernian aren't important enough for the papers to defend are they?
