Wasn't it Niell who broke Carraghers leg? Who stamped on Giggs' shin last week? He and Thatcher are blood brothers, both are out and out thugs who should be kicked out of the game.

We all like hard fair tackles but Niell does not do hard FAIR tackles. He aint even that good a defender and I dont care what idiot thinks he might be. Why any decent footballing side would want a psycho like him on the team is beyond me. Oh...I guess that leaves Liverpool free to go for him then.... :wootman:

Thanks mate, happy to give you a laugh :funny:

Niell is a crap player and it's not hard to mistake him for Brown because they are both so similar when it comes to breaking players legs. I got confused because Niell also got sent off again on the same week end.

Its no coincidence that he started off at a thugs club (Millwall), and now plays for another thugs club (Blackburn) is it? Clubs like that dont buy him for his immaculate skills on the ball you know

No-one buys defenders for their immaculate skills on the ball. If they had such a thing, they wouldnt be defenders. :|

Unless it's Boulahrouz we're talking about. He is a clean defender, that would never, EVER hurt fellow players on a football pitch on purpose.

So Pede, do you read the Sun or Star?

heh. Still not convinced by what you say Alex, i simply dont rate the guy, and im close to praying that he doesnt sign for us today.

And i have seen a lot of him, in the Premiership and every game at the World Cup, so im not just another idiot who's seen one thing about him, his fouls.

I know he is (in general) a pretty decent defender, but i simply dont want him at Liverpool, we dont need him, end of.

Hello Virgo......

I dont sign the players at Chelsea and I dont ask for peoples opinions on our players either.

This thread was asking for opinions and I gave mine. I cant work out whether you simply hate English people, Chelsea fans or is it just me? I guess It's all three to be honest. Still if your constant digging at us gives you a hard on mate then dig away. I'm just glad there is something in this world that gets you hard dude :funny:

Alex...I don't read newspapers at all mate. I find all the information I need without them. That way I can make my own decisions instead of being influenced by wankers from the press. You should try it sometime mate. :wootman:

Grunger....are you trying to tell me that defenders don't need skill? That is so dumb mate and you know it.

What he was trying to say was that if a player had immaculate skill he would probably be a midfielder or a striker, not a defender...

No, they do. But skills on the ball come last in the list of priorities for a defender in my opinion. Awareness, positioning, tackling, decent pace, they're a must. Skills on the ball? As long as you can pass without putting your team into much of a trouble and you can do a decent long ball, you're set.

Guys with immaculate skills on the ball dont become defenders, but well that's pretty obvious.

Maldini, Blanc, Beckenbauer, John Terry, Ronald Koeman, Matthaeus, Mathias Sammer, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, the list goes on and on... :|

Thank you Hans. :ewan:

Lean seems to prefer an old fashioned "hoofer". Those days are long gone. If you have awareness, positioning, tackling and decent pace, plus the ability to dribble your way out of trouble and distribute the ball to a team mate, and cut the opposition midfield apart with one pass, then wouldn't these atributes be regarded as immaculate skills? I think they would be mate.

Not really, i hate hoofers. By decent long balls i meant finding your player on the other side of the pitch, and by delivering a good pass, well, not giving the ball away on your half. Defenders arent made for giving through balls from defense aswell, their job is to avoid goals. Of course, versatility is something good and if you've got a defender with good ball touch, great.

Terry for example, he's a no non-sense guy, that's what i like about him. All the good attributes for a defender and you dont see him giving the ball away for trying a through ball or doing something fancy. He tries his luck with long balls sometimes, but often enough he'll give it to Makelele/Frank and you guys are set.

For defenders they're well above the rest of the pack, yes. But i have another concept of immaculate skills/technique i guess.

Neil is not a "crap" player, and im sure you would not be saying this if he was one of our players. If u took the time to watch him at the world cup, u would clearly see he was the heart and soul of the aussie team, he made some really important challanges and without him Australia would not of got where they did at the World cup.
