New one probably won't last a year before they face a leadership challenge, seems to be the state of things there now.

ALP were known for their factions and leadership challenges (the Liberal party changing PM mid term as they did this time is a rarity), however Rudd changed the rules on how Labor leaders are elected the last time he was PM, so it would be harder. Labor functions are so influential though, and the left will jump on any drop in polls from Shorten.

ALP's made the election around the affordability of housing (read: negative gearing and addressing MNCs fiscal transparency), education (no privatisation of university tuition fees & Gonski+) and health, acting on climate rather than being "full of sb9" and social progressiveness (funding domestic violence prevention measures, openly supporting gay marriage by simply allowing to pass through Parliament & a path towards a Republic). Also, Shorten's got the entire party behind him; Rudd & Gillard effectively left so that the party could rebuild after the personality politics that have cost Labor since 07.

The whole party say they're behind him, because opinion polls are swinging in their favour...as soon as that changes labor left will be all over him pushing Albo.

ALP are making the election about issues that on the surface benefit the lower income end of the population, but it's always a short term view from the ALP. Get rid of Negative Gearing might lower housing prices short term...Then there will be a housing shortage long term. Raising taxes for big companies and lowering for low income earners might look like a quick win, until multi nationals pull out of Australia and make easier money elsewhere meaning less Australian jobs etc etc.

Too many voters look at the surface, rather than the big picture.

They're behind him publicly, but the Liberals were behind Abbott, too. They also have to keep the Greens happy.

The Liberals would still mostly prefer Abbott, they just know Australia wouldn't.

Greens would be more likely to support Albanese than Shorten

Most of the Nationals are seen as conservative country folk in all honesty. The National party is losing power as old money farmers and folk whose families have been in the country forever move away. Also independents like Katter have taken a big chunk of the rural vote now.

I don't even know or hear much about Nash in all honesty. Really the only National we hear about is Barnaby Joyce - he's always got his foot in his mouth over something.

It won't affect anything. Pro-gun Americans are okay with mass shootings if it means they get to Carlos off on the gun range and carry around a steel cock.

Yeah but what about the Isis angle? I mean, whilst this was just a lone domestic sociopath with a gun like every other time, this time the guy said 'ISIS' which makes it the first Isis attack on US soil and the biggest act of terrorism since 9/11

I was listening to Mark Levin (remember Utah, Shifty?) show talking about it - he started by saying he was speechless, then went on to speak at considerable length about how it was due to Obama/Hilary suppression on the police and security services and that it was further evidence for restricting immigration from Muslim countries and immigration control - all Trumpism - and Levin is so anti-Trump he is almost a 'Never Trumper'...

Honestly, didn't see this coming. I had Remain winning by about 5% but it looks like Leave is going to edge it. Farage is already partying and calling for Cameron's resignation.

There was a shy voter element at play here.

The guy was a closet case that happened to be Muslim. He was not a Jihadist or whatever is the flavor term of the week.

Farage is a disgusting motherfUcker. He'd cut the Queen's head off if it would give him the PMs seat.

Bastard even lied about believing - in a referendum that he campaigned his entire political career for - that the other side was going to win. Talk about conviction of ideals. Also, MP Cox died in vain.

This doesn't seem meaningful in the slightest, and he probably meant it.

He'd been campaigning for an opportunity like this for 25 YEARS and the first thing he says when polling closes is he's not going to win?

Lest one doesn't forget about a 2nd Independence Referendum in Scotland, after the Scots were effectively conned two years ago into giving up their EU membership. Plus, the giant fuck-ups for London that Northern Ireland and Gibraltar will turn into. Republic of Ireland doesn't recognize the land-border and a majority of Norn Iron also voted Remain. So it'll just be a United Kingdom of England and Wales? :D

Farage was campaigning against his own job. You can question his positions, and I do, but you can't question is conviction.

Edit: If I was a Conservative I'd vote for Priti Patel in the leadership election. She's young, popular in her constituency (her majority actually increased despite a hard push from UKIP in that seat), and her very existence annoys certain people.

She's pro capital punishment.

I would go for Teresa May.

But hopefully Scotland will leave the uk, join the EU and I will claim Scottish citizenship and renounce my British. I want to see Britain crash and burn so all the selfish old racist ****s who voluntarily crashed our economy have their pensions wiped out and die slowly because all the nurses and doctors who would have taken care of them aren't allowed in the country anymore. They can die singing Rule Britannia.
