If the rest of the Real Madrid players had Figo´s professional approach to the game maybe they wouldn´t have lost in such emphatic manner.
In what concerns the Carvalho/Samuel comparisson, you can´t argue that Carvalho has been having a couple of impressive season´s, winning trophies, being solid and convincing in both club and Nt. Samuel hasn´t been that great and that Madrid defence isn´t too reliable not just because he doesn´t have a good backup from Salgado, Pavon or Roberto Carlos but because he isn´t fully adapted to the La liga standarts and isn´t really showing that he is a solid full back. He may return to his Nt/Roma form in Real and start performing well again but currently Carvalho who is already adapted to the Premiership is a much more reliable and better option. Anyways i don´t think that he is currently the best, it´s difficult to make that assumption, specially when you see players like Puyol, Terry (extremely impressive in Chelsea) and Nesta being consistent and impressive every week too.
About the game, as usual it was a very interesting match and Barça clearly dominated and deserved this result. Barça are a pretty balanced team and every sector of the team is extremely strong. If Real Madrid had such a strong midfield and defence as Barcelona, perhaps the forwards would get more balls and have the chance to shine like Ronaldinho and Etoo. The problem is that Real Madrid´s game isn´t fluid and it was kinda depressing to see a team like Real Madrid resorting to long balls because they didn´t have anyone to build their game besides Figo´s sporadic line runs, Zidane´s ocasional genious plays (very few nowadays) or Beckham´s deadball situations. The major difference btw the two team besides the different confidence levels is that Barça is indeed a football TEAM and Real is currently a bunch of individuals trying to solve the game by themselves.
In what concerns the individual highlights, besides the fact that Ronaldinho is indeed a football genious and that Deco once again proved his critics wrong with another convincing peformance and one great assist to Gio or that Etoo is one lethal striker, i prefer to focus on another masterful display by Puyol. I love to see this guy perform, he is so impressive and his influence in the Barça team is undeniable. Forget the Betis blunder, every world class player has a right to have his off days (i remember Nesta miserable performance against Deportivo last year where Baresi in his "current" form would do better) Puyol is one of the best defenders in the world.
