Yeah, this kid is 17.

Gaven's already a US U-23 international and already one of the top players in MLS. This season he's been the second-best player on the team which right now leads the Eastern Conference.

The only thing he hadn't done up until last night was score, and now he's proven he can do that as well.

Should he get capped vs. Poland next month? I think so. (Y)

He could come on as a sub for Donovan at right mid or Beasley at left mid.

Yeah, two goal of the week candidates there.

I don't agree with the commentators claiming Gaven's second is goal of the year candidate though. Ronald Cerritos scored an almost identical goal a couple of weeks back and it didn't even win goal of the week.

They really have to stop letting the fans vote for goal of the week. It seems like the worst goal is picked 9 out of 10 times.

He is implying that Americans don't know much about football, which I'm afraid he is right. There are some of us that do know a lot though, such as Rochester Rhino.

Off topic: RR have the Rochester Rhinos ever played the Spokane Shadow? Spokane is only about 30 miles from where I live, but I am asking because I don't follow American 'soccer' very much, especially the lower leagues. And what about the Seattle Sounders? I only live 300 miles from Seattle, but most of all I used to live there.

Adu is much better then Gaven. Gaven is a good player who can improve, but Adu is arguably better than him and he is only 15....

They have never played a team in Spokane, but they just played in Seattlelast week and won 1-0.

Have you been following MLS this season? There's no way you can say that Freddy Adu is a better player than Eddie Gaven right now.

Gaven has started every game of the season, and he plays on a better team than Adu (who's only started 5 of 13 games).

Adu has two goals and an assist playing as a forward.

Gaven has two goals and 4 assists as a left midfielder.

Gaven plays great defense. Adu doesn't play ANY defense.

Gaven reads the game very quickly. Adu holds onto the ball too long.

Gaven has done great with the physical side of the game. All Adu has proven is that he can get bumped off the ball extremely easily.

Adu hasn't proved anything yet. He's scored one impressive goal, done a couple of good dribbling tricks and sent in some good passes (along with some poor ones). That does not make him a great player. He still needs to show a lot more to prove that he's on the same level as Eddie Gaven, but he has plenty of time to show it.

Astrapi Mesopotamia's, Amanatidis scores those types of goals every other game....

The point of this thread is that I think Eddie Gaven deserves to be capped for the US national team based on his play this season.

Even the most mentally challenged of people could figure that out.

Nobody forced you to read this thread or to watch the highlights. If you don't care, don't f*cking post.

I'm sorry MLS cannot fulfill the high standards of Greek "amateour" football. I'm sure you and your friends (assuming you have any) could school the US national team if you played them. Surely the likes of Landon Donovan and DaMarcus Beasley will be no match for your mad Greek skillz.
