Yeah !
It has been a long time of afflicting uncertainty - but now we can finally announce something !
As you might know, last year was the "Year of Stadiums" for the FIFA community - and FIFA 2004, EURO 2004 or TCM 2004 ! Hundrets of great stadiums were built and released, enabled by the technique provided by ECP !
When FIFA 2005 was out, everybody dreamed of a heavenly future - already having the stadiums of FIFA 2004 and building even new stadiums ! But then - disappointment ! EA had made lots of changes to the FIFA 2005 stadiums which made a direct conversion impossible.
Silence for many weeks, months !
But today we can announce a great step ! We succeeded in importing a stadium in FIFA 2005 ! Even if it might be only a first step, it's quite a big one ! Now we know that it's generally possible to import all the stadiums made for FIFA 2004 (out of Rhino 3D files) - and we can even import more polygons than in 2004 !
The converting process is similar to the one of FIFA 2004 - but a lot more time-consuming than before. Mainly because the stadium has to be splitted into 8 different parts (one of the new techniques EA is using to save performance).
Since there are some new things needed to convert, it is currently not possible to release any tools. Even we can only convert provisionally - but better than nothing ! Furthermore, there is no stadium installer yet - we'll think of a solution for the installation problem, but you should be able to expect new stadiums to be released within the next weeks !
But one thing - now please don't start asking questions like "When will the tools be released ?" "Can you convert stadium XXX for me ??" "When will stadium XXX be out ?" etc. This is absolutely what we DON'T need now, so just be happy with this progress and wait for the things coming ... Thanks !
And now have fun with 6 screenshots of the first converted stadium for FIFA 2005 - which was also one of the first stadiums in 2004, and my first stadium : "Fritz-Walter-Stadium" (aka "Betzenberg") of German club 1. FC Kaiserslautern ! Enjoy !
