Easy way to check if EA has changed its ways

There's been a bug in FIFA since 2002: the game keeps mixing up formations and player's positions. Being unable to watch what's happening at the bottom of the screen when you've substituted a player is another age-old bug. These are bugs that appear in every EA FIFA/Euro version at least since 2002 and they still aren't fixed.

There's one advantage to this: it's very easy to check whether EA has changed it's ways when it comes to sloppy gameplay and pre-release testing. Just download the demo, start a game, fiddle with your formation a bit and substitute a player or two. If they haven't fixed these annoying and easy-to-fix bugs, don't expect them to create a good game.

Oh I didn't know that, I didn't play the demo. However, if you just play one game of FIFA/Euro and check for the silly bugs that occur in every FIFA/Euro edition, you know whether this game is really different from its predecessors or not. Really, it's a very handy way to determine if EA has evolved yet.

We said the same thing about 2003 and 2004. Maybe we'll be saying the same thing about 2006.

The bug is that when formations are changed that the players will mix up positions and formations are not the one you changed to?? im sorry i dont get your bug, please explain.

Yup. When I change formation during the game, or sometimes even in the pre-game menu, either the formation does not change or the players are positioned wrong. This is especially frustrating when a player is sent off.

I do like to stress that in my opinion Euro 2004 is a big improvement compared to FIFA 2004. But it still feels like the developers didn't have enough time to
finish the game properly, and that they definitely won't have the time to release enough patches and bugfixes to make up for this.

Oh, and not to forget of course: you can't substitute during half-time or free kicks. And that's what I mean by games feeling unfinished: it's impossible that the developers of Euro 2004 didn't know these little bugs were there.

It's not that Euro 2004 is a bad game, it's just that it could be so much better if the developers just took the time to finish a game before starting with a new edition.

Not substituting at free kicks is less annoying than having to directly shoot on goal from a freekick when u are right next to the corner flag (Euro2004)!

What is wrong with EA?!! Does anyone there even know the game they are trying to recreate?!~

we'll always keep our hopes for the next fifa version from ea,but they will keep failing in providing us with quality game.

i mean,the cpu players are like robots,gronkjaer had his energy bar diminished and still he runs on the flanks at express speed.


if we are 2-3 feet from the cpu player,we automatically move towards the cpu so that they take away the ball.

chasing the cpu when they make runs is like chasing a cheetah.

the end celebrations really suck big time.
we have won the euro 2004 yet the celebrtions look so ugly and sleepy and short.

the cpu player can dodge past even if we attempt a slide tackle,they just walk over it and continue.

overall,the game always dissapoints except for the fifa world cup 2002 version,which was by far the best ever football game i have ever played.

the celebrations,cinematics,gameplay were class!!

it also seems to happen if u take ur defender up on a run he would stay up front (well in 2002 they did i think)

Before every game we say the same thing because we have hope that it will be better than its predeccessor. Every year (in my opinion) it is. Its way too early to tell, but from the videos so far it looks like its better than 04

but hey,downloading a warez of this game is an insult to the concept of downloading.
download a flash game instead of wasting your time on this game if u know what i mean

Thats it I think. I went back to WE7 last night and am hooked on it again. I bought Euro 2004 5 weeks ago and didnt play WE once in that time. The frustration at the lack of mobility in the players is enough now and I only bought it for online play but it is really shown up there. Please Kanomi, online play in the new game and player runs to make me happy.

it is but obvious what u did.
yesterday,i broke my discs of euro 2004 out of frustration.why are the cpu players super-speeded?
why don't they loose balance when we tackle them?when they tackle us ,our players fall and take 3-4 sec to get up by which the cpu has run away with the ball.
ea have dissapointed us yet again.it is becoming a habit of them.i hope they visit these sg forums and read what the fans are full of................dissapointment.
they previous games were still playable for 3-4 weeks after which we got bored,but euro 2004 lasted for me just 1 week.very breaking.
hope we see some promises fulfilledfrom ea by fifa 2005

You don't have to play it extensively. Just play the game, fiddle a bit with the settings and check for bugs that wouldn't have been there had the game been tested properly. If you find those kind of silly bugs, you know the game has been rushed into the store before it was finished.
