Easy free kicks?

In FIFA 05, the soccer game I used to play before I got FIFA 07, free kicks were so damn easy. I could shot from as far away as I wanted, and screw it over the wall and into the goal with no problems. It had this round marker on the screen, showing exactly where you were aiming, and even a ball at the bottom of the screen, showing where you were going to hit the ball (how you are going to screw the ball).

I am used to score on every free kick, but in FIFA 07, I have scored once out of 20 tries. Where did all the information menus go when taking a free kick?

Yesterday, when I played online, I saw that people score just as easy here on free kicks, so there must be technique I just don't know about.

Anyone feeling like telling me what that is?

if the freekick taker is to the left of the goal, take the kick with a right-footed player, and vice versa. basically, you just have to get the right amount of power and curve on the ball. the power is judged by the bar at the bottom. you can curve the ball by pressing a direction button directly AFTER you press the shoot button.

But how do I know the right amount of power and curve? This guy I played against yesterday scored on every single free kick. Do you just have to remember how much power you need to use depending on the distance, in difference from FIFA 05 where you actually could see *where* you were aiming?

you just have to practice to know the correct amount of power and curve. and yes, you do basically have to remember what the amount of power. also, remember that you can also move the wall using your left and right direction keys. i would recommend that you go into practice mode and practice free kicks there.

does pressing button 8 to call 2nd player actually help at all? Sometimes I feel its easier to hit the target when I do, but sometimes it feels its actually harder...
