Dribbling and Ball Control Moves

Paco de Lucia

The sidestep and auto sidestep are easy to pull off and effective. The dragback is a bit harder to pull off but looks really cool.

What are your favorite or most effective dribbling or ball control moves? Describe how you do them, so we can all learn.

I like to hold the R2 and do a side step...then I let go of the directional pad..and the player continues to do sidesteps in that direction (until someone takes the ball)
push back on the directional pad and the player will start walking it backwards until you let go of the direction

looks really cool...:mrpimp:

mayor thats just pointless
no one here is polish
what i do for dribbles..
i start running at the defender at 45 degrees
then i go left and right but at 45 degrees to the direction im running and i dont sprint while i do this
it confuses the **** out of the defenders
as soon as i see he has guessed the wrong way i sprint for a few steps to get a nice lead on him and straighten towards goal
its such a beauty move i wish fraps worked well on my comp to show u video
use players like ronaldinho, maradona or siviori for this

The sidestep is a good move, but sometimes you don't even have to do that. Just jerk the stick back and forth until the defender commits one way, then go the opposite way. Works best if you don't push any shoulder buttons, but can work with R2 as well.

If I'm not on a counter attack I like to sit there until the defender comes at me and then just juke him.

Another great thing when you know where you want to dribble to,
say you want to go to the left, actually go right and the defender will move in that direction creating space on the left.

I like to do the "cutback" move when trying to create space on the sideline to cross it into the box. Move one way, then suddenly reverse direction. Most of the time, you'll shake the defender long enough to get room to cross.

PS. I didn't mention that is in Polish? :D

Nice try Mayor, I assume the guide is great, but unfortunately, I can't read Polish and I'm not the only one here.:D
Any translation?

I do like too do the side steps allot and I occasionally manage too pull off the drag back. Apart from that I occasionaly do the flick over the players head but I never mean it :$

Most of the times i manage to get the drag back right (he starts dragging the ball back..) but i end up losing the ball. Although there was one time that when i was using Cristiano Ronaldo i got it right, and after dragging back the ball i dribbled to the side and the defender fell to the ground trying to steal the ball, which he obviously didnt. That felt good.:p

I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overuse the double tap r2 step over, i do it pretty much everytime I have the ball and am running in a straight line.

I like the r2 left then to the right before the defender can settle. Hit the ball as he's coming out of it, scored a few beauties with piliniak doing that...

You mean the trick you do the sidestep and then quickly press the d-pad in the opposite direction right? It's a good trick too, someday in my life i'll try to use that to dribble the goalkeeper.:crazyboy:

perhaps in future, I'll ask an author about it coz it's really good and very detailed guide

@Marko: this is international forum and many ppl from different countries visit it, I know about at least 6 polish guys on this forum so it's not so pointless as you think (just see at "Niko kits" thread)

I use shimmys (single sidestep) and continuous sidesteps, drag backs (easy), leaves, super cancels to fool people when receiving the ball, and occasionally R2 stepovers (when I am feeling fancy). I almost always shoot fake or double shoot fake (either way) or chip feint the keeper when clean on goal. The 360 and the slow stepovers are the only tricks I basically never use.
