EA don't sculpt player models in-house, all of it is outsourced to freelance 3d artists. It's funny you mention 'gettyimages' as that is a source (along with different photo archives and in some rare cases supplied by the clubs the player in question played for) these 3d artists use. So the reason 'quality' is all over the map is partly because some players are virtually impossible to source good photos for but more than anything because 'capturing' likeness is very difficult to do, and there isn't an abundance of 3d artists that talented who are working 'freelance' most are already under contract elsewhere in the entertainment field. Also worth taking into account that most of the older sculpts were done almost a decade ago and for 360 as part of the 'legends' thing that microsoft paid for exclusivity and alot of these are still running around with the original 512x512 texture maps, all they did when they moved to 'Frostbite' was take those 512x512's and re-size them to 1024x1024 that's why the majority of them look all muddy and pixelated. If EA just update the texture maps and add (normal) texture map slots alot of the older sculpts would come to life.

I agree though, Van Basten is misshapen, Matthaus same thing jawline is Jay Leno'esque and his characteristic 'gaze' expression that is pretty much the first thing that pops into one's head when picturing Matthaus is not present either. There does seem to be a case of updating these old texture maps, Nesta for instance was given completely new texture maps and hair mesh for FIFA22.

I have access to the originals if it would help. One of my childhood friends is married to Roland Nilsson, so i can see about if it's possible to get photos from more of the 94 squad aswell, since i am pretty sure he has TONS saved as it's the biggest achievement in international Football for Sweden since the 50's.

i had to do a clean install of fifa 14 and CP14, then i went from 2000s db to 90s db and i saw j-league thinking i did something wrong. that's what i ment with "normal". had no clue it was put there on purpose :).

If Telega gives his permission we could also integrate this faces in CP

Yes everything OK. I am that personally I do not feel like continuing at this moment. Given the delicate situation I don't feel like thinking about bullshit. Because the patch we all know, it's bullshit (meant as a trivial matter). A bullshit that I care a lot but still bullshit. However from the point of view of the database I would also be ready for a possible release. Very few kits are missing for the UCL team from 2000 to 2005 and the various tests. Except that at the moment I don't think I should be working on it. The mood, generic termire, is obviously not the best. Let's say more fear, worry, anxiety. I am not here to make a political rally on what is right and what is wrong, it is not the right venue. I avoid expressing personal opinions on the whole affair. I would like to wake up tomorrow and think that everything is a bad dream.
