Don't Konami Want To Make Money?

No that WE10 has been released in Japan, why is it going to take another 6 months before it gets released over here? Ok, sure they need to translate and ship everything but the delay is very bad marketing on Konami's part. If they were clever they would cash in on the world cup like EA. It's a real shame that we are going to have to wait so long because from what people have been saying it seems there has been a big improvement from pes5, which always seemed to me to be enjoyable and frustrating in equal measures.

Another thing I don't understand is why they don't release it on pc in Japan. It is clear that the pc version is superior and it shouldn't take them any effort to do because they have had the emulator in place from pes3. It just seems unbelievable that Konami have made the best series for the most popular sport in the world and yet they are absolutely rubbish at selling it. In a way it wouldn't be so bad if EA took over Konami (well maybe not) so then at least you would be able to get hold of it when it came out. I downloaded the demo of fifa wc 06, and must have played it for 20 seconds before switching it off and deleting it. I can't believe how bad it was. Still, EA will sell loads of copies because they know how to cash in.

...

i totally agree with you man,.

I'm absolutely stunned that I, year after year, go down to the videostore, *pling* then I get somewhat bedazzled and the next thing i know is me sitting in front of the computer, smashing the gamepad against the table in frustration of the sucky FIFA game...im truely amazed of their way of "cashing in" as you say..:P

Do you think everybody who plays pes know about WE and the fact its been released earlier in Japan and the fact that there are different versions of WE each year?
Only forum people know it. We, the forum community are just a fraction of all pes players over the world. Do you really think Konami would change its strategy for us forum peeps? :)
And why no release on pc for Japan, because Japanese people mostly love console gaming.

Well yeah, but the guy's point was that they (EA) sell those games worldwide, so you can basically get them for every platform from every gamestore. The question is, why do Konami wait 6 months before releasing a simple port of a game which they're already selling in Japan. They have what, 6 versions of WE9 released altogether (including PES5), which do you think is a better strategy - marketing 3 worldwide releases per year or selling 5 differently named versions of the same game, one for each region except Asia, who get about 3. That simply doesn't make any sense. They sell less than EA, now that's a fact. But why so, is Fifa a better game then? Or maybe it's because I can walk into a local store and choose between about 3 or 4 Fifa titles including the latest, but I have to search the whole town to get PES, which is outdated anyway because it's an unchanged port of a game released 6 months ago. The average buyer doesn't search across the town, he buys what the first seller has to offer. And he often judges the book by the cover. Can you really blame people for being ignorant because they don't visit SG forums? I think you can't. But why the hell should the average buyer choose PES, which is outdated, has a less attractive box and of which he probably hasn't even heard of. Besides, it's not like he's even going to find it. And if you're going to say it's because Konami actually only care abut the sales figures in Asia, well that's just dumb. That's like a middle class working man turning down a promotion because he already earns enough.

agree. konami seems to have a poor marketing strategy worldwide. they have focused too much on japan market instead of treat the worldwide market equally.

1 thing that i'm still don't understand until now was the naming of WE/PES/WSWE:I or whatever you name it. they are from same company, they are the same game, so why konami just can't name it by using 1 name instead of 3 different name? example:

instead of
Winning Eleven 10 - PS2
PES 6 - PC, PS2
World Soccer Winning Eleven International - PC, PS2

why not
Winning Eleven 10 [JPN] - PS2
Winning Eleven 10 - PC, PS2

this will make thing hell lot more easier and clear message to every buyer

Konami removed the use of the word "International" for the North America release of Winning Eleven for WE9. Don't know whether they will decide to use it again or not. We all know how fickle minded Konami can be with names at the end of WE.

And for your info, WE9 was release for the Asian market for the PC too.

WE9 - PC, PS2

As for the PSP version it's under a different name and a different story for that.

So I don't really freaking know whether Konami will release WE10 for the Asian market for the PC version or just only stick to the release for the North America and Europe market only. I was really pissed that no official announcements were made on the release of WE9 PC for the Asian market. It just somehow appeared in stores. Before the release of WE9 for the North America.

lol, instead of changing the game, konami changes the title - an old marketing strategy to earn more money ;) simple as fifa ;]

Konami want to release PES6 earlier this year, because of the World Cup.
They want to release it before the World Cup. Getting prepared. :jap:

that just tells me that Nintendo's next console is going to be called Wii?, that doesn't tell me why Konami change game names.

And maybe Konami are not to bothered about how much money they make, they could easily be doing these to please the consumers, money could mean nothing to them, but what they produce can mean a lot

You should try living here where we won't see the game for another 11 months! Actually, as they've pushed back the release by one month every year in North America, it'll probably be 12 months before we get it.

Regarding EA, in a normal year, they release one version of the game. RTWC was a release title for the 360 so in reality they released two versions but the point is, whether you live under a rock in the Australian outback, in the South of France or in Argentina, you can go out and buy the dang game.
