Does PES Cheat?

To be honest, yes, I feel that CPU players have some sort of advantages during gameplay. But on the other hand, YOU have an advantage over CPU players too, and that is your brain, whose 'processing power' easily outclass that of a game.

Advantage or not, it didn't stop me from scoring an average of 7-8 goals per game at Top Player level. It is so easy to get a winning ratio of 100% for every season now, I almost wished the CPU players had even more advantage.

yeah you might score then suddenly they score ... FOCUS and DEFEND!
its only normal that a team will push and push to get an equalizer

i can beat every other team on top level EXCEPT for man fuccking red...
everything just goes manchesters way... i dont get it...

the ONLY way they score are through gay rebounds that somehow manage to get to their feet...
headers just a bit shorter than the 17 yd mark that is perfectly hit to go in...
and crazy volleys...

i think that since PES didnt have the license for manchester in PES5, that in PES6 they boasted about them and made them incredibly good CPU's (check the back cover...)

PES reminds me of the High Heat series for baseball. It was made by a smaller company that couldn't compete with EA in a lot of matters, but the game had excellent, realistic gameplay that was much preferable to the arcade style Triple Play series. Of course (probably for financial reasons) the company released pretty much the same game every year without any real improvements and it got outdated. I don't think they've come out with one in a few years. I suspect the Pro Evolution series will suffer the same fate.

Do you think EA will ever come out with a good game? They're interested in making money, so they're going to make a game that appeals to the masses, who merely want to have a fun game as opposed to a realistic one. I think the USA has a big deal to do with it. The FIFA series sells a huge quantity of copies in the states, and the average buyer isn't into soccer enough to demand a realistic game. Even though logic tells us that in 10 years technology will have advanced so much that the game will be amazing, FIFA will still probably suck, because they'll just make another arcade game that only looks better.

I used to think I was going crazy playing we11...since I started playing PS version I think i have broken or smashed at least 10 controllers...

maybe i'm sorta crazy breakin controllers but I still think WE11 is still the better soccer game out there, I'd hope they make more changes to WE11 2008 then just some 'AI' improvement...

I cant wait to get my hands on WE11 2008 and start cursing & swearing at the CPU....been swearing at WE11 10 for the past year ...zzz

PES has the best game play script outthere and no other company has been stepping up to the plate. Some people say FIFA07 cought up to PES as far as game play to me it still feels too arcade to play.

This is exactly the ****ty attitude PES players seem to have these days. Just because FIFA is worse (haven´t tried the newest) than PES it doesn't make PES a good game. It just means we do not have a decent football game around anymore. Konami had everything in their control and now they seem to have thrown it all away. PES7 has to be a genuine step forward to convince me that this series isn't ready to be forgotten.

The first priority in PES has always been single player game that has been wonderful in the past. Now it is sad that pes fans have to resort to multiplayer games just because the single player game is too ****ty experience to handle.

Most of the cheating **** has already been mentioned and every one of them is all too familiar to me while playing PES. What is the point in creating different players with different stats when they don't mean **** when playing???? What does it matter if you have for example two pace 99 wingers when a crappy pace 60 defender easily outruns them. The stats are useless and that basically ruins the game.

But you have to give credit to Konami for something: they have balls as they basically released PES5 with nothing new put in and instead a whole league taken away!!!!! And all this for a normal price of a new game!!! This should have been a patch not a full game!! They haven't bothered to create anything new in the game for a couple of years now. Hell, you can't even play a real Champions League style tournament with both home and away legs in the group stage and in the playoffs. How hard should it be????

Multiplayer game is quite fun I know, but it is quite hard to make full tournaments with 32 teams in multiplayer isn't it?

PES6 owes everything to the absolutely incredible superpatch makers who try their best to make PES6 a decent game when Konami simply doesn't care. I take my hat off for the patch makers. They've done a great job. If only Konami had so much enthusiasm to really try something new with this game but I'm afraid the next version will be as dissapointing as PES6 even though the first news have been quite encouraging. PES7 will sell well no matter how crappy it will be...

I've been playing PES for about 3 years now and I am being honest in saying I really don't understand much of the complaints of the cheating. If something 'strange' does happen I just explain it as CPU vs Human, CPU has some advantages such as instant reaction, it dosen't need seconds to think it just does. Altough my reflexes in PES have become really good I don't see a difference in that anymore.

I want to counter some of the points in the post above:

There are many ways to prove that the CPU is cheating and some include:
- The rebound coincidence: Where the ball miraculously rebounds to a CPU player.

I actually advantage from this alot of the time (maybe more of the time than the computer. I play with 1 centre midfielder and 1 defensive midfielder and the ball very much often comes to my player. For periods of time in the game I often have possesion for alot because of this.

- Suddenly your players make stupid slow passes and their responsiveness gets worse when the CPU is desperate to get a goal

I agree with this. Sometimes when the CPU is desperate their responsivness does get better. Its easy to counter tho with safe passes.

- A CPU player takes an inaccurate shot that wouldn't have gone in but your keeper somehow touches it out for a corner.

It happens for both the CPU and human. It also happens alot if hold triangle.

- Slow CPU players outrunning the likes of C.Ronaldo

Very fast players can outrun the CPU defence. It happens for both CPU and human.

- Most rebounds from your keeper have to fall to the CPU for a tap in.

Just untrue. This is just an ignorant statement. If there is a CPU forward there, theres a chance it will fall to them. But for me more often than not one of my defender gets it. To counter change your formation to more defensive. The ball also often falls to one of my forwards for an easy tap in.
Just b!tching and moaning here about a real soccer simulation.

- Stupid fouls in favor of the CPU that are never given if your player was fouled (by the way, that ref whistle is annoying)

Almost all the fouls I commit and have done to me I expect to be whistled.

- Miraculous headers: where a 1.65m CPU player somehow manages to head the ball in even though he's surrounded by 1.95m defenders.

Dosen't happen too often. It is possible for you (human) in the game and in real life soccer to get a good header over the goalie or a very strong header. I have scored in PES using this method by having luck with the angle of it going over the keeper in a corner of the net.

I am on a quest to prove once and for all that PES cheats...
One way of doing that is getting stories from everyone else on this forum.

Many of us firmly believe that PES COM player cheats and cheats badly...
I spent many-a-day in front of my PS2 screaming all sorts things at the TV because of unfair calls or just plan freaky stuff that is just inhumanly like.
I know its just a game but some times it just goes too far all the while my girl friend looks at me funny when I call the PS2 a cheat'n %$#@'n %&*#

any ways... If you too believe that you have experienced one of these situations in the past give us the details. Maybe if everybody with a story explains it my Girlfriend might believe me... :boohoo:

yes it is definetly rigged. they do massive fouls on me and the ref NEVER calls it. and i do not as bad things and i aalwqays get a yellow card. when most of my fouls i got pure ball and shouldnt of been fouls. also the CPU somehow knows exactly where your going to move and when before you do it and therefore dodging you. lol, as if computers predict your moves...
But I do agree that the AI reacts instantly on your controller input, thereby having an advantage on you since humans always have a 0.2/0.3 sec. reaction time + the time it takes before your player actually starts making the animation after you moved your controller.
