if i add a face to a player with a generic face eg Phil Neville, and then assign it to him using creation centre, will this mean i won't be able to load my career because the database has changed?

does adding new faces with CC wreck career??

Adding specific faces for people with generic faces doesn't affect a career but changing the rosters or adding a completely new player does. Also, if the team in your career mode is not the default team (i.e. you have bought or sold players) then CC won't work.
When adding a new face use the Breamster.com ID technology as importing faces into z_data04 and then assigning them in CC seems to muck up the game.

kk sorry dude but where can i download this id technology cos i have the tutorial but it just ses to assign them usin CC??
You don't have to download anything. All you have to do is this:
Change the number of the face to one that is not already assigned e.g.player____model60__217_0_0.o to player____model60__30_0_0.o (make sure all three face files have the same number). Move the files to the main FIFA 2004 folder(i.e. C/programfiles/EASports/FIFA2004) then open CC and go to the player appearance bit and in the options on the LH side of the screen there is a thing that says 'specific face number' (or something like that!) Type whatever number you changed the file name to into that box (in this case 30), press apply and you're done. When you go into CC you can check which face ID's aren't being used by going into face manager.
