Yes i am starting to Direct Ip with my friend and as soon as it gets to the match the menu comes up and the message reads "connection lost" this happens all the time in the same exact spot. We get through team selections and stuff but it always loses connection

any help will be much appreciated

Don't use any locale.ini tweaks like enabled referee etc.
Nocd exe is quite obvious i think. Don't use that either. Clean install on both systems is the first step.

i use norton firewall, it has a program control option in its settings , i had to tell this to allow fifa2005.exe FULL access to internet. as norton was silently blocking it before.

Are you kidding me?...FIFA 2004 had tons of connection problems with direct TCP/IP...with totally clean installs and you think it's tweaks that cause the problem...lol
wow.

Make sure you have the following ports opened in your firewall program you are using it:
Note that if you have a firewall and want to play online, the following TCP/IP ports must be open in the outbound direction:
HTTP 80 TCP/IP
HTTPS 443 TCP/IP
MsgConn/IM 13500-13599 TCP/IP
Roomsvr 26200-26299 TCP/IP

The following UDP ports must be opened for game packets, for the outbound and inbound connections
Game Packets 3658 UDP

1. Who cares about Fifa 2004?? This is a Fifa 2005 topic.
2. With locale.ini you will lose the connection every time (using the same locale.ini on both machines can help. Im not sure.) So the FIRST STEP to success is what i've said.
Whats your problem?

1st off 2005 has same TCP/IP direct problems like the same piece of trash they put out last year.

Success lies within the manufacturer and there ability to test there product before bringing it to market and not force there consumers to come to public forums to find fixes for something that should have been taken care of before reaching final beta...remember 2004 (woops!... there's that nasty mentioning of 2004 in the 2005 thread again...Gasp!) final was released publicly and still basically a beta last year and received little or no after market support from EA Sports and the FIFA dev team.

I would say that the same problems are apparent this year.

Whats your problem?

Apparently I don't have one...I didn't buy FIFA 2005...;)

The 2005 demo was a big enough piece of trash to convince me it wasn't worth purchasing.

The main point?...there should be a supported patch to fix the problem...maybe the dev team could learn something from the FPS community....they beta test with the public and address key areas such as multi-play and direct TCP/IP in there demos...before going gold.
