what was the actual attendence? Supposedly there's a huge number of Rangers supporters in Ontario, so thats surprising there wasnt more than them.

But seriously, what kind of attendence were they expecting, especially with those prices

The attendance wa 18,159.

The reason why there were not more Rangers fans was due to the fact that the game was on a weekday. If it were on a weekend (like when I saw them play AS Roma last year) they would come in droves via bus. I think it's safe to assume it's not worth the time & money for a day trip ESPECIALLY if you have to wake up early the next day for work.

There was a lot of energy coming from the Croatian fans and we were certainly louder. If another Croatian team were to play here again, I guarantee you there would be a lot more Croatian fans.

From what I heard, certainly more proper Croatian chants. The Rangers fans though, not one chant heard from them, which is extremely unsual, considering the date and all... (H)

Yes, it is I. :)

July 12 is significant because... well, I'll let celtic_bhoy explain it. :)

hey SCTW, it was Celtic who played Roma, not Rangers.

18,000 is really good considering the teams, and it being on a Tuesday. (C)

This is the only sport I'm into and it's not popular here. .

Well Soccer is only not popular in a local "Pro" level (IE: Lynx). That's about it as soccer has grown to a huge level in Canada (it's even the sport played most by civilians). The TSN CL ratings were through the roof this year...people (canadian or not) wear every jersey you can think of while walking in public.

Sure there are a few old timers that hate it (The Rob Macouns (sp?) and Don Cherrys) but I'm glad that they are fading away and that soccer is growing so much here.

EDIT- I hope one day it actually replaces Baseball as the "Summer" Pro Sport (if Canada was to ever get a few MLS teams soon). It's better than in places like Australia where it has to compete with Rugby, the national sport. (a hopeless battle I think).

But Baseball? That could easily be done.
(And how about that CFL :funny: .....sorry but I just can't take that league as seriously as the coaches think it is <Pinball Clemens....while a great guy....cracked me up a few weeks ago when he said that the CFL is more important than Hockey in Canadian Culture  . Jesus. )

I don't know whether to laugh at Rangers or admire Dinamo. I guess I'll admire Dinamo, because they seem very serious this season (unlike in previous seasons  ).

They'll wipe the floor with Hajduk.

that was when i thought we'd be playing most of our starters. our regular strikers(Novo+Prso) were out with knocks, both our CBs are bench players that are on their way out, and Lovenkrands was playing :(

i was impressed by the Dinamo support's noise but they just kept saying "Dinamo" lol.

our end did make some noise but its harder to join in cause we were signing actual songs. i didnt get involved in much of the singing cause i dont have anything against 'fenians' and would never be up to my neck in their blood :(

to any Dinamo supporters that were there: were there any problems on your side after the game? there was a fight between a guy with a Croatian flag as a cape and what looked like another Croatian. possibly a Hajduk Split supporter?

Believe me, we were saying a hell of a lot more than that :)

There were no problems from what I saw.
