Hello,
I just got the PC version of WE7i a few days ago and been playing the hell out of it. I love it, but I just can't seem to master it. I'm playing with the default 3 star difficulty level.....and it's so damn hard! How long does it take to be able to win games? Right now I seem to mostly draw or lose by 1 or 2 goals. Does everyone here play with less than 3 stars??

I need a 2 1/2 star level. I win consistantly by 3 or so goals on 2 stars, but am like you on 3 stars - no wins and an occasional tie.

Practice, Practice, Practice I guess.

Jumping from 2 to 3 stars in PES3 seems to be the hardest...u will not get much space...

Spot on. I started on 3 star. 2 star was just way too easy. You have to just stick with it though. If you are winning games atleast, then you are at the right level. Once it gets to be pretty regularly, then it's time to make that jump. I remember spending 6 months on 3 star when I first got into the WE series. It just takes practice. The toughest jump for me was 4 to 5 star. I played tons of friendlies and cups with weaker countries and squads against the powerhouse teams. That's probably the best way to get adjusted. Once you can start winning a good percentage during those friendlies, then it is time to tackle the ML! Cheers and good luck.

Hey buddy this is not fifa ya know ;) Keep playing it. Took me 2 years to master 4*. Soon I will try 5* and see how that goes for me. I think the reason it is hard for you because probably you have played alot of fifa where you need to pass, pass and shoot and score the goal. In WE is different, you need to think and play just like in real football, play the ball around and wait for the right moment to strike. Good Luck and also the more you play the more easy will get. :D

I am on 5* and its getting easier. I will tell u this. Sometimes when playing against other humans they tend to always want to go forward. If you pass the ball backwards you will open up alot more space for other players. You also need to practice Long Ball through balls.

Yes I agree. About long passes, sometimes I can get a one on one against the keeper on a long pass from my defender. You need to know which defender can do this the best.

very good point. just like in real life, you can't force the ball through a wall, so pass back and reset your play! you will notice that once you get into the habit of continually moving forward, you start to get VERY repetitive with your attacks! find these patterns and remedy them. vary your play and be creative. this is a very rewarding game. be patient and spread that ball around, attack full blast when you see the openings!

If you ever played the WE series on the Playstation you will be able to play 5 starts with little problems even it's ur first time playing WE on the PS2.......though there're some difference......

2 stars for me was waaay to easy, so I started with 3 stars where I played alot of games, then after a while I moved upto 4 stars and quickly afterwards moved to 5 stars as I at the time felt ready for it and didn't needed to play at "only" 4 stars.

But if you have ever played football before at a high level, or are tactical wise then the game will be easy to master. On the otherhand if you are a newcomer to football, then the game will be very difficult and frustrating.

Actually even my little bro who is 8 years old plays at 3 stars, he started at 2 stars but is now at 3 stars.

I guess my main problem is that this is my first game where I use a gamepad so it takes a little getting used to. I find it very hard to do the various tricks like feints and such which is what I guess you're supposed to do at 3 stars to get past their defense.

I play at 5* and almost never do any tricks or feints. The only feint I do on a regular basis is when I'm when I'm one-on-one with the goalie.

As others have said, the key is not to know all the individual tricks (FIFA), but to play sound football and spread the ball around. Pass it back and forth a bit between your midfield and defense to get your opponent's forwards chasing the ball around. If you do this enough you'll get a few of their midfielders to push up too. Then start working it up field. You'll find that you have a lot more space to work with. Once you get to the last 1/3 of the field you can go down the middle or down the flank. Learn the through-pass and how to use the lob pass effectively (haven't mastered that yet). I've found the through pass in particular to be very effective when used in the right situations and very rewarding.

I use the sidestep pretty regularly, also i like the one step-over move. Just an advice, if things are going hard, try crossing, it's the easiest way to score in this game.

I agree with most of this. I do never feints too but I can still outplay the defense.
The secret of finding gaps in defense is to use the radar! This needs getting used to it, because it is hard to concentrate on the player with the ball and the radar at the same time. The best way to do this is only watching it when your player on the ball has some space and/or time.

I just started playing on 3* because 2* was just too easy. Im finding it difficult to win matches and most of the time I draw 1-1 or lose 1-0. The CPU's defence just seems to be too good!

Has anyone tried changing the condition of your component. For example set them to the poorest condition and yourself to excellent, I think you can beat them in 5*.

Playing with radar is way too easy. I play without radar on 5* and can still win by a good amount. And Axel you gotta practice 1-2's alot. Hold L1 and press X. Or to do a Lobbed through ball hold L1 and press ^

Does using a controller with analog sticks help alot? Because I play with an MS Sidewinder gamepad that doesnt have analog.
