Dialer .EXE can't be deleted

I just returned from a friend of mine... he downloaded a dialer for accessing porn sites, and this dialer installed itself in a subdirectory c:\dialer, creating an icon on the desktop. OK, no problem so far.
Now, the interesting part comes up. I deleted this subdirectory, and the icon too. I restarted the PC (with Win XP, by the way), and the icons didn't appear at first on the desktop, but then was created during the loading of the various programs that start with Win XP (you know, Norton AV and so on). No icon in the system tray though.
I've checked the Start-Up menu, the services, the installed applications, the processes running, nothing suspect. It seems like I can't find this program that re-creates the dialer at every start-up. Any suggestions on how may I solve this problem?
There's probably something in the Registry to fix. But I can't understand where is this program coming out from at every start-up...
Every suggestion would be appreciated.

This is for um.. a trojan program, like NetBus or SubSeven, for remote access to your comp i think. I accidentally did this to myself and.. though I'm not sure if they ar the same thing, as soon as it the PC started i hit ALT-CTRL-DEL and closed any processes/programs that werent usually there. Then I went to the folder and deleted it.

HOWEVER, I may be ranting about a completely unrelated problem :$

Interesting. Do you think that AdAware would be able to find it? I'll work on it as soon as I get back to my friend's house...

I'm not sure if this command works under WinXP, and even if it does, if it will solve anything... but anyway...

Go to Start >>> Run >>> type in: msconfig

Then go through Startup, and the other sections as well

if that doesn't work...

do Run >>> regedit

and look for the file in there... backup your registry just in case you mess something up though :p

I'm sorry to be a tad offtopic, but isn't a dialer one of those things porn sites use a lot? So you don't have to go through credit cards and checks?

Yep, he's contributed to make some exotic country in Polinesia a bit richer... :) I think... how it's possible to be THAT stupid to actually install a dialer? And to have Win XP on your PC? Too many people have come in front of a monitor... :D
