If you were around here for more than the time it takes you to finish, say.. 2 seconds, you would know that I didn't vote for Bush. You would also realize that we are talking about John Kerry, not George Bush. No go dive or something.

Even if Kerry is as bad as you say, Bush has been arguably the worst US president ever.
The point is it can't get any worse than what you have atm.

What's funny is that those Liberals who were at that convention probably despise what the US really stands for, and would never been seen with an American flag otherwise. I was actually shocked at how many there were... quite disturbing.
I am a republican but that doesn't mean squat right now because most of the republicans in office don't even know what it means to be republican.

Of all the lies the right wing spews, this is the worst. Ask yourself what America is really about, and you'll see it is Bush and the neo-cons that despise America. America is about democracy, not about disenfranchising black voters and using your campaign manager/Florida secretary of state to count illegal military ballots and having your buddies in the Supreme Court install you as president. America is about rising based on your merits, not using your father's name and your grandfather's profits from trading with the Nazis to make up for your poor academic record and multiple business failures. America is about sacrificing for your country when the time comes, not about jumping over hundreds of people to get into the National Guard and then deserting. It's about caring for your fellow Americans, not shipping their jobs off to China and cutting their wages and labor rights. It's about the Bill of Rights, not the PATRIOT Act.
The flip-flopping accusations are absurd because it is an instance of the pot calling the kettle black. Bush now talks about a war on terrorism, when his family had extensive connections to the bin Ladens and are still almost indistinguishable from the largest sponsors of terrorism in the world, the Saudis. He said he would restore integrity to the White House, yet has destroyed the reputation of that office. He claimed he would catch Osama bin Laden dead or alive, and now says he doesn't think about him. He said "I'm a uniter, not a divider," now he says "you're with me or against me."

Yes. I'm a Democrat, but I'll respect the Republicans who are worthy of respect. I think I could live with a Bob Dole, John McCain, Jim Jefford, or Colin Powell as president.

With regard to Bob Dole, he may be further right than Bush, but that is because the Bush administration is off the right-left scale in their own little imperialist wonderland. What I'm saying is I respect the MAN Bob Dole, even if I disagree with his policies. He got his freaking arm shot off for his country. If that man takes us to war, I know he understands the gravity of it, as does McCain or Kerry. Bush doesn't, and it shows in his handling of Iraq.
I used the term "homophobic crusade" because the fundies have led the Republicans to trample on the Constitution in order to ban gay marriage. This is an issue for the states, plain and simple. If a state decides to legalize gay marriage, or civil unions, or it is ruled that their constituion demands gay marriage, that is there decision, not that of the federal government. Moreover, if a state should so have gay unions, those unions MUST be recognized by all states. Article IV, Section 1, you will NEVER see a more black and white Constituional issue. I thought Republicans were for states' rights. At least they were when it came to subjugating black people. Just another instance of Republican flip-flopping. I quote McCain on the gay marriage amendment: "The constitutional amendment we're debating today strikes me as antithetical in every way to the core philosophy of Republicans . . . It usurps from the states a fundamental authority they have always possessed and imposes a federal remedy for a problem that most states do not believe confronts them."
As for the exporting of American Jobs, Michael Moore found plenty of people in Flint willing to work for Nike. But Bush is happy with shipping jobs overseas. More corporate profits, more campaign donations, more poor young men with no hope but the military for him to send to fight for corporations. Vicious cycle.

I would not hate Dole as much as I hate Bush. Dole would not have foolishly led us into an occupation of Iraq. GHW Bush didn't, he was shot down in WWII and so he too understands what war is like. The way the occupation of Iraq was handled - first the unnecessary war of choice, then the "war on the cheap" strategy - would only be conducted by someone who has no understanding and no compassion for the U.S. soldiers. Dumping a bunch of money into defense contractor pockets doesn't make you the party of the soldiers, protecting them does.
I detest the term "activist judges" because it was "activist judges" who decided that segregation was unconstitutional. Anyone who rails against "activist judges" had better be prepared to voice their opposition to Brown v. Board.
It is politicians who make the laws which give corporations the climate that allows them to export jobs. The government could tax the crap out of imports and nip this in the bud. I'm not going to lay the blame squarely at the feet of Republicans, I am deeply saddened that Clinton was behind NAFTA, as was Kerry. However, I'm glad that Kerry has seen that NAFTA doesn't work. You may call that flip-flopping, I call that being strong enough to admit a mistake. Shouldn't we expect that of our leaders?
I am curious what skills you think Americans should learn. Not everyone can be a doctor or lawyer. Used to be you could get a good job working in manufacturing. You could raise a family and send your kids to college on that. Now too many people buy foreign cars and you can get a Ford made in Mexico. Tech skills? Those are being shipped off to Pakistan and India, as are tech support jobs. What will be left?
